I recently visited Lost Boys Chicken, and let me tell you, the only thing "lost" about this place was the chicken. I ordered the large portion for £16, thinking I was in for a feast, but what I got was more like a wing-shaped teaser. These wings were so tiny, I started to wonder if the chicken had been on a strict diet—like, a chicken cleanse, or maybe just skipping leg day.
The “Wendy” sauce, though? Now that was decent, like a soft apology from the kitchen for the sad, skeletal wings that arrived. But the size of the chicken? It was so disappointing, I could have sworn I was eating a chicken wing in a magic trick where the chicken just… vanished.
I’ve just returned from India, where I had street food that made my stomach do flips, but also gave me food poisoning (great times!). I’ll say this: the street food there had more chicken, and the chicken might’ve been washed with someone's feet, but at least it felt like a full meal. In comparison, this was more like a starter at a fancy restaurant where you leave still hungry and with regrets.
If Lost Boys Chicken swapped to thighs or maybe just grew their wings a little, they could actually have something here. For now, it’s just a place where sauce gets more attention than the chicken. Shame, because that sauce was decent. But alas, I won’t be winging my way back...
Read moreI have finally answered the age old question "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" It was me. The lost boys are crowned chicKings, the best wings in brighton and its really a no contest. Dripping in flavour and dipping in sauce there's something for everyone here. Whether you're a spice fanatic and tackle their Rufio, or you're feeling really brave the No Name wings. Maybe you fancy something on the sweeter side of life, Szechuan or Mango Habanero are going to be hitting that note for you. For those of you who can't handle chicken on the bone (I don't understand you but will accept you) their selection of chicken burgers from your Classic Chicken Shop style to Korean Kimchi and everything inbetween often leave me forgetting to come up for air. Oh and of course, what would it be without the sides. Pickles, Slaw, Shallots, Tater Tots, Curly fries or why bother making a decision and of course get yourself Loaded Curly Fries, everything good all in one place. Whats more left to say, after my 7 years in Brighton, Lost Boys Chicken continues to impress and gives a big cluck you to its...
Read moreFound casually scrolling through Deliveroo and ordered not expecting much but boy oh boy the surprise! The Buffalo chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I've even had in my life and I'm not exaggerating! The sauce is amazing and perfectly dosed so it doesn't overwhelm the whole sandwich. The chicken patty is cooked so perfectly it's tender and juicy not dry, not overcooked! The bun is fresh with a very nice texture that goes very well with the sandwich. If you like buffalo wings then go ahead and get some. They are what I consider buffalo wings done right! Cooked just right so the meat stays juicy with again the sauce being properly dosed. My only regret is not ordering more but I will come...
