Malai Thai Street Food — Restaurant in England

First time visiting this spot but it certainly won’t be our last. With only 4-6 tables this is a small but perfectly formed restaurant where the atmosphere grabs you and the smell of lemongrass pulls you in. The staff are welcoming and attentive. We ordered some ribs and pork skewers for starters and we weren’t disappointed. Both flavoursome with hints of aromatic spices and Thai sauces they were both rich and easily digested. For our mains we had the chicken red Thai and chicken Penang. The red Thai was so creamy and full of those crazy flavours of lemongrass and coconut and the chicken ratio was the best I’ve ever had. The Penang was nice and spicy with loads of chicken, peppers and green beans plus the jasmine rice had the perfect sticky consistency needed to mop up those left over sauces. My partner and I drove from Scunthorpe to try this place and we’re glad we did! I love Thai food and this place was fantastic, the atmosphere is so cosy and the staff were all very kind and the right level of attentive, the food was delicious and we’ll be coming back soon to try other things! We usually always order the same foods but looking at their specials we’re coming back specifically to ‘push the boat out’ a little because they sounded great! Price was more than reasonable for what we could tell was all fresh home-style cooking, even the sauces were homemade and fresh, and it doesn’t feel loud or cramped in their either. Would highly recommend to Thai food lovers and anyone wanting to try something new, you won’t regret it, do book if you want to go though as they were full for our whole meal! We happened upon this lovely restaurant whilst wandering on Newland Avenue. Wanting to try somewhere different for lunch we thought this would tick that box. Lovely, cosy interior. Nicely decorated with Thai touches throughout added to the decor. Toilet facilities clean and well stocked. Now to the food... 2 courses for £14.95 each. Very good value.
