I live in Des Moines and have been visiting Hull since 1995. Cave Street Fisheries reigns supreme in a city with several great chippies. I go for the fish but everything I've had is superb and the staff is gracious. When I last popped in on a rainy afternoon in October '19, I ordered mine wrapped up for takeaway as I wanted to eat at my mate's house. This is a proper chippy. I ordered a regular fish, chips, peas & scraps. Everything was as a traditional chip shop should be. The chips had plenty of colour, fish cooked to perfection with lovely batter, lots of mushy peas and scraps. I'm stuffed and there's still lots left. Cannot fault our visit to Cave street fisheries nor can we fault the portion size. We both went for the fish and chips special ... excellent. Also tried a patty... again excellent so bought a couple for the freezer. Unfortunately we were unable to manage the size at lunch but reheated in airfryer for tea and once again...excellent.
