Mulberry Manor — Restaurant in England

Thought we'd try some pasties for lunch. A vegetarian pastie and an extra large luxury steak pastie. Sadly this experience confirmed our suspicion that Devon resorts cannot do pasties like in Cornwall. The vegetarian was filled with mush that looked like spinach plus something else, but it just tasted vile, and not of nicely cooked veg. Plus it had a weird vinegar taste. The steak pastie looked great, but inside it was also a lot of mush, with a few pieces of meat, but none of it tasted very good at all. Borderline tasteless, but again with a weird vinegar taste. We've some poor pasties in our time, but these were inedible, and at £2.85 and £3.95, rather expensive for inedible food. I took them back and they apologised and refunded my money no question. It made for a very disappointing lunch time. An extra star for the refund...

One word - Horrible! The service was terrible. It was made quite clear to me that I had heavily inconvenienced the staff member that I had the misfortune to meet by simply asking for a product. She thought it ridiculous that I didn't want her to use the bag she had just used for meat goods for my vegetarian items, and god forbid I should dictate the temperature of MY coffee that I'M paying for!!! In addition, I asked for a vegetable pasty and to my disgust on biting into it I had received an unusual chickpea and curry combination. I would normally have gone back to rectify the situation but I was dissuaded by the possibility of another bout of sighing and eye rolling commonplace among petulant children. Delicious Cream Tea & Lovely Service We stopped by Mulberry Manor Bakery in Lyme Regis for their cream tea deal (£7 for two scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam) and were really impressed! The scones were warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and thoughtful—they even gave us a heads-up about the sneaky seagulls nearby! We enjoyed our cream tea perched on the little wall outside the shop, which was charming, but it would also be lovely to take it down to Marine Parade to enjoy by the beach. A great local spot—highly recommended!
