Palma Café — Restaurant in England

This was my favourite " chippy" in Blackpool for about 20 years, and thats saying something as there are an awful lot of chippies in this town. My visit this week was disappointing. Maybe they have changed the cooking fat/ oil ? Food tasted different. I ate " in" on this visit. The portion was a bit small and the tables needed a wipe. Friendly staff. But for reasons I cannot explain it was just not as good as it used to be. Did I visit on an " off,-day"? Updated:-Gave them a second chance about 3 months later. Bought take away from the serving hatch on the pavement. Chips tasted horrible- put them in a bin.whatever fat they are now frying in is different than it used to be. So they got it wrong and I gave them a second chance -so no longer on my favourite Chippies list. Plenty of alternative options...

My visit to Palma Café in Blackpool left me with mixed feelings. While the staff was friendly and welcoming, the food unfortunately didn’t meet expectations. The fish, which is typically a highlight at seaside cafés, was overly oily and tasted as though it had been cooked twice, resulting in a greasy texture that made it unpleasant to eat. The chips were another letdown—cold and lacking that satisfying crispness you’d hope for.

For the price, which felt a bit steep, I expected better quality. While the service was good, the disappointing food overshadowed the experience. Hopefully, improvements in the kitchen could elevate Palma Café to match the hospitality...

Very quick service. Food is good, old fashioned cafe food. It is tasty with nicely sized portions. Tables are quickly cleaned and staff are friendly and efficient. Been twice and would have probably been more often had I discovered it earlier in my holiday.

First time I had a bacon sandwich or barm as they say here. Really well cooked. The second time I had egg and chips and my son had a cheeseburger. His burger was nice with plenty of cheese and onions. My egg and chips were fine.

My only criticism is the tea is quite expensive at £3.40 for a pot for 2 and the chips had a funny taste which was barely noticeable, I am not sure what caused that but put it...
