Blackpool Promenade really has the greatest sea views! From sunrise to sunset. A lovely walk capturing a great skyline, three Piers & numerous seafront hotels! The best way to enjoy the fresh air, (even if rather a tad windy on some days!). There are new public Toilets located directly across from The SandCastle Waterpark & if you cross back again, there is a lovely selection of "Horse & Carriages," to choose from....who will gladly take you partially along the Prom or all the way, depending on where you would like to go too. When the tide is safely far enough out, the donkeys appear & they are a happy sight to see! They are card payment only & are very well looked after. Along the way, there are three Piers, starting from the South Pier to Central Pier to North Pier. South & North Piers both have a reasonably-sized Amusement Arcade, Family Fair's, (where you can pay-as-you-go/buy a wristband, a good choice of Eateries, small Souvenir Shops & a Family Bar with daily/nightly entertainment. The North Pier has a more nostalgic feel to it. There is a Family Bar, Amusement Arcade & a Takeaway on approach to the Pier. Once walking on, there are a few Souvenir Shops then you have the choice to either walk along the Pier or take the Pier Train to a beautiful Carousel, the newly named, "Joe Longthorne Theatre" & another Family Bar. All prices on all three Piers are very reasonable. Back onto the Promenade & there are various ice-cream sellers, (mainly near Blackpool Tower). Once in front of Blackpool Tower you will find, "The Comedy Carpet," with a huge number of comical jokes/sayings from various comedians over the years who performed in Blackpool! If by any chance you would prefer not to walk along Blackpool Promenade, there are of course, the famous Blackpool Trams which run on a regular basis where you can purchase tickets from single use, daily use too weekly use all at very good prices! No matter how you decide to see Blackpool Promenade it really is worth a visit!
Please note; Due to Covid-19 National Lockdown Restrictions, most of the above places are temporarily closed until...
Read moreGreat promenade to visit on regular basis, some of the businesses need a little revamp and other places permanently closed. But theres still lots to do from visiting the tower itself and its other attractions, to many a bar including Shannigan's - an Irish-themed bar but not completely irish so dont expect it to be.
Theres famous amusement arcades which include Coral Island, and no visit to central promenade will be complete without going to the Life boat house and shop. Of course theres the two of the three piers, third on south promenade, all of which have their own entertainment, north pier has a theatre and bars plus arcade and a train, central pier has the Ferris wheel and other rides plus bars and arcades. The south pier has many attractions too and is just about opposite the pleasure beach.
Of course theres the tram to take which works out cheaper as a day or week ticket than return which they dont do anyway and theres many a place to go on the tram, At Bisbam theres one particular cafe that does slices of wonderful cakes and friendly helpful staff. At Fleetwood take the ferry to Knotts end and enjoy a cuppa while you wait for the ferry to return to take you back or visit the market on Fridays and Saturdays, which is located at the Victoria street tram stop.
Along the prom and behind some pubs is Market street where you can also get buses to places like St Anns & Lytham and soon next to Coral Island on the present site of the coach station and car park (huge site) theres going to be a brand new £300m leisure theme park and attractions so watch this space, as the...
Read moreBlackpool has been modernised over the last decade to 15 years making it look much nicer. The shops are mainly run down, but there are a few nicely presented shops. The horse and carriage rides are still a staple of the promenade, and we actually rode one today to the south pier (cost us £20 which was not unreasonable). It's still quintessentially Blackpool with games, shops and food stands though, which I find quite charming. The tower end of the promenade has lots of popular attractions like madame tussauds, the gruffalo experience, the Peter rabbit experience, the tower itself, the dungeons and the sea life centre. All can be quite expensive, but check out things like Groupon, Wowcher, the blue light card and the kids pass for discounts (the gruffalo experience and sea life centre are currently on the kids pass app for example for 15% off). The other end of the promenade is Blackpool pleasure beach. After coming to Blackpool for most of my life (I'm now 38) Blackpool pleasure beach has always been a favourite place to visit. Now, we avoid the pleasure beach as it is grossly overpriced. It is £20 alone to get in...
