The food is okay, the coffee is honestly sub par, but the worst thing about this place is the service. There were 3 of us studying at the cafe, and table are labelled as non-laptop zones. One of the baristas told us that we could use the table to study with our laptops as we were a decently sized group that ordered food AND coffee, but for some reason we were approached by 2 other employees (one TWICE) asking us to move AN HOUR LATER, despite us explaining that we'd been told that we could use the table. I completely understand that every place has their own policies regarding these things, but DON'T tell us we can use a table and then take it away saying you were "Doing us a favour." It's disrespectful, staff was rude while doing it, and forty minutes later the table is still unoccupied so they just bothered us for no reason. And there's two other empty tables. Never going back here, they completely disrupted the rhythm I had going. If you want a successful study session, then you...

Standard hipster guff where the customer is very certainly always wrong. Off-hand staff who allowed all the customers to sit inside wearing coats because they wanted to leave the door open... presumably to attract more customers to sit feeling uncomfortably in the cold. I asked the woman on the counter if it was ok to close to door and she looked at me as if I'd asked to defecate on each of the tables. But yeah, like The Marwood, it's one of those places where you expect a 25 year old has inherited some money, opened a café for lack of any idea what to do with life (other than travel around Australia or something similarly inane) and the customers are just a nuisance. Having said that there's one young dude who works there who is quite nice...

We came in to use the toad in the hole room and have a couple drinks (29/03). We had one pint and our friend was then refused service, despite us having not left our table, because “it looked like we were pinging off our nut”. We had no idea where this had come from and were effectively sober having only had one drink. When we all challenged this, we weren’t given a clear explanation as to why the bartender felt this. We offered to be searched or engage in a proper conversation, but were told the opinion was non-negotiable. I’ve never experienced anything like this and it was incredibly rude with no basis for any accusations. Couple pints turned into a pretty somber evening, thanks to some really unpleasant service....

Presuming Ed's every book lovers dream. Not that there are many readable books here, it's just wall to wall book covers and makes you remember those characters or old books you loved. Coffee is great, food is really nice and the price is good too. Open 8-6.30 week days, 9-6.30 Sat and 10-6.30 on Sunday. There are share tables great for meeting new people, lap top spaces for studies etc. But also lap-top free spaces. For those hoping to work there are plug in points and the wifi is good. It's a great slice of Brighton quirkiness with a nice atmosphere suitable for all. For game lovers or nice family time they also have a pac-man table.

The vegan oriental food I ate at this establishment was just spectacular! Feel bad that I forgot the name of the dishes and unfortunately it isn't located on the Google menu. But, i believe the first dish was sweet potatoe fries in sweet chille sauce (and other ingredients I'm sure) with a vegan "pork belly" topped with hoisin sauce in a bao bun (also other ingredients in there I'm sure). Was very very tasty and unbelievably satisfying. The atmosphere was warm, pleasant and had a great selection of background music. Staff was friendly with very efficient service aswell. A wonderful experience and so glad i visted this place.

Quirky looking coffee house. Loads of different coffee beans for the conisure. The house blend is fine. Chilled atmosphere. Places where you can and can't use wi-fi. All on one floor, so access for wheelchairs is ok. There is an outside eating area in the front. Food looks good, tastes better. At least vegetarian but much is vegan. Looks homemade. Prices are less than certain well known brands of coffee places. The place has the feel of an old fashioned pub. The staff are really good. Chatty, generally nice to chat with. I have been 2 times... They remembered how I have my drink a week later.
