It may seem a little strange at first, to walk through the doors tucked between two other buildings, then to immediately make your way up a short flight of stairs, but I assure you it's worth the trip. Nestled on the first floor is the board game cafe ReRoll, which offers many board games for folks to play, housed in a light and spacious environment.
The first area you come to is an open gaming area, just beyond the till/kitchen area, that has lots of games crammed into an array of shelving units, with custom art hanging on the walls, giving off a clean but organised almost- bedroom-feel, so you'll feel relaxed and welcome there. There's also a shelf of games available for folks to buy here.
Upstairs, on the second floor, there are slightly larger tables, where a particularly loud game of 'Pit and the Pendulum' is going on at the moment, it'd be great for bigger expansive games or maybe a card gaming tournament or something like that. There's also a table set up for Wargaming, with some custom terrain already in place.
But back downstairs, there's one more room to see, which the owners have put more of a creative spin on. They've had a little bit of fun here, with colourful ceiling tiles, in the design of Azul, and a load of unused boards from lots of games stuck along the back wall.
There's food options, coffee and even alcohol available to enjoy, while playing the game of your choice. If you're not sure what to play, there's a handy flow chart on the 2nd floor or you can ask one of the friendly staff to recommend a...
Read moreIt was our first time visiting, as we were heading there to look for MTG cards, mainly Jumpstart or Commander decks. Unfortunately, they were out of stock, but the staff let us know they’d be getting more in on Friday with the new Aetherdrift set.
That said, they were really helpful and pointed us towards other places where we might find some cards. Since we wanted something to play with that day, they even offered to let us use their starter sets if we couldn’t find what we needed elsewhere.
After checking out a few other shops and finally getting what we were after, we headed back to Reroll for some food. The staff were brilliant, really welcoming and supportive, especially since we’re new to MTG. They told us about their upcoming events, let us use their in shop owned mats, and served up some amazing food. The Kinder Bueno shake was fantastic!!!
While we played, they encouraged us to ask any questions about MTG and were more than happy to help.
We were the only customers at the time, probably because we arrived quite early, but it’s clear the place is well set up. I can only imagine how great the atmosphere must be during events or when it’s busier. Definitely a spot worth...
Read moreI was in Leicester for the first time meeting up with friends and after a visit to spoons, we wandered around and came across the sign outside for ReRoll.
We headed up the steps and having never been there before, we asked "So how does this work?". The lovely staff talked us through that it's £2 for an hour and your fourth hour is free! You can pick any of the games on the white shelves and just have a good play.
We were a group of 6 that walked in without a reservation and they were more than happy to accommodate us. We were guided to a table by a lovely bearded gentleman and he suggested an easy starting game to get things rolling, Herd Mentality.
We were given menus where they have a good selection, vegan and vegetarian included. I had the kinder Bueno milkshake and it was delicious, I highly recommend it!
Over the games we played, we had a good back and forth with the staff and friendly interactions during our stay. I had to leave early to catch a train but I only wish I was more local than Nottingham as I'd definitely be a frequent visitor!
Don't pass up this place for a visit with friends and some...
