Unscrupulous, ridiculous and Irresponsible… To my most grievance, I received the most ridiculous and unqualified takeaway service on 20th July, 2016. At 19:29, I ordered a take-out of one soy chicken with steamed rice and one beef brisket and mooli with steamed rice. At 19:59, the food was delivered to the required address (Wentworth College of the University of York). At that time, the driver asks me to pay 25.4 GBP and I paid 30 GBP. In return, I received 4.6GBP. After thinking thrice, I think that it’s quite overpriced and I therefore checked the takeaway menu online. Afterwards, I discovered that I should pay only 15.4 GBP. Therefore, I called the restaurant at 20:12 and the lady who answered the phone said that she would look into the matter concerned. I agreed and she called me back at 20:18. She told me that the driver asked me to pay precisely 15.4 GBP instead of 25.4GBP. However, I can swear to God that I really did pay 30GBP. She claimed that the driver is an honorable person who would not tell lies and she doubts if I lied. Instead of making even a proper and sincere apology, the lady insists that this is not the restaurant’s fault and they would not make any compensation or apology. The lady’s tone is extremely unapologetic. I understand that it is perfectly comprehensible that she casts doubt of my intension of reporting such issue (although she is well aware of the fact that I constantly order take-out). However, what angered me is that the lady keeps shunning the responsibility of the restaurant in such incident and not even willing to make a proper apology. I feel outraged and disappointed by the restaurant’s irresponsible response.
As a loyal customer of the regency restaurant, I almost went here to have dim sum every Sunday with my friends. I used to think that Regency Restaurant is a prestigious company for its hospitality and tasty food. However, after this incident, I understand perfectly of how you deal with your customers, I would never patronize this unscrupulous and irresponsible...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars... I would. Where do I start... Ordered a simple sweet and sour chicken NO VEG with fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken balls with chips... First time the delivery came, the food was stodgy, freezing cold and greasy and clearly not fresh, the delivery driver also refused to come to the door, even though I said I had a broken foot. (He claims he didn't hear me). I rang and complained about the food and the driver and was assured by the manager that my food would be cooked fresh and brought to me personally but himself. I then received a call 20 minutes later stating that the driver was coming back and would apologize. When the food came back to me, the driver did apologize (although he should of brought to my door in the first place)... But the food actually came back worse, which I didn't think was possible.... The fried rice was once big greasy cold block (I have a video of my partner hitting it with a knife and it not even moving, just bouncing up and down like jelly.. what a joke... Rice is supposed to fall apart) and to make matters worse, the sweet and sour chicken came back with vegetables in it... So my partner couldn't even eat it due to a health condition... The chips were also clearly frozen chips that had been fried and the sweet and sour chicken balls were covered in grease. This time, I COULDN'T EVEN RING BACK AS THEY HAD CLOSED..whole order went in bin both times, and me and my partner went without...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were craving a good Chinese take away, and decided after lots of research to get it from Regency. We are both vegetarians and so choosing a restaurant can be difficult, however we were impressed by the choice of vegetarian options. We order the noodels (which were very yummy) and the vegetarian spring rolls (which, likewise, were yummy). We also decided to risk it and order the mock chicken in black bean sauce, which suprised both of us as it was actually quite delicious. However, it all went downhill when we ordered the vegetarian platter. It was by no means a platter. The platter was one of the most depressing things I had ever been given as food. We were promised seaweed, which was no where to be seen. The platter also included an onion ring (?), a mock chicken skewer (which had a questionable peanut sauce) and two lumps of salt and chilli tofu. We also ordered a main of this tofu, but knowing what I know now, I would not make the same mistake again. The tofu smelt of off cheese, and was raw, it tasted of nothing and was wholly inedible. Of the 5 items we ordered knly half were actually edible and enjoyable. The only thing that really impressed me was the speed of the delivery. I would not order from Regency Chinese ever again and my experience here only reinforces in idea that there are no good Chinese takeaways in York. If you're considering this Chinese, just order an...
