Popped into this lovely Spanish themed tapas place for a quick lunch while walking the dog. The place was empty which rarely bodes well, but oh what a joy. We had the butter bean, chorizo and smoked sausage stew with bread and olive oil and a bottle of light Spanish red and it was utterly delicious. Finished with a raspberry and almond frangipane and a salted chocolate brownie for me. We also walked out with a couple of tins of Spanish paprika. So it begs the question 'how is it this place is empty, ever!'. The stew was a revelation of flavour with the smoke coursing through the dish like an Argentinian BBQ, the beans, which actually I have struggled with eating in my life were delicious and really held the flavours of the spicing perfectly. Normally I would take a photo, but I was way too busy to think about that while my taste buds were being so wonderfully tickled. Oh and they do classes also if you fancy recreating some of the tapas dishes on offer.

Not going to lie, the food was kinda ruined by a sodding seagull. We bought three chorizo pasties and some cake to takeaway, and whilst I was attempting to give a bit to my daughter some VERY confident seagull swooped in took the WHOLE THING 🤯 Quickly learned a very important lesson about Lyme Regis, and that’s eat your food with caution 😂 Oh, we also bought some lemon olive oil and some smoked sea salt. Sure, it’s more expensive than you’d pay in a supermarket, but so it should be. We like coming away and support random places that we find, and the whole “Mill Lane” area is quite nice and picturesque. The type of place I could imagine spending a nice afternoon with my wife. Alas, we had three young kids so we didn’t really fancy sitting in a small restaurant 😅 honestly, they’re too chaotic for that. But yeah, if you’re in the area and fancy giving somewhere nice a visit, then give Strawberry Tree a crack 👌🏻 just be AWARE OF SEAGULLS.

Had a fabulous evening here on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The warmth and welcome of the place was fantastic and despite not having booked, we were made very welcome (a party of 19 was about to turn up at any minute as well) The staff were engaging, knowledgeable and polite. Owners Ed and Giselle were charming and our waitress, Emma from Manchester was great fun.) The food – small Tapas plates, was amazing. The Pig Cheeks with Prunes and Sherry, Chicken Skewers with Micro Herbs and Yoghurt, Cod Cheeks in Tomato Sauce and the Canaries Style potatoes with Mojo-Rojo Sauce – were delicious. The Burnt Cheesecake with Cinnamon Apples to finish was divine – you must try to pay them a visit.

Nice food...pinxtos evening. I booked for 25th Aug on 27th July...one day before the last avent. It's a nice place, but booking so far ahead, we should have a table, right? Nope. Shown to a sliver of wood with 3 stools..if I say you couldn't fit the pinxtos plate on it without it overhanging I think you get the picture. I don't write reviews unless somewhere is great. This was disappointing in terms of customer service. My partner politely went to ask if there was not another table and told No. They had our booking. We don't like to argue, but we booked really early! In terms of timings for the day but when I made the reservation. A month in advance. It wasn't even full..I'd get it if the place we had was walk ins, but a reservation? I like tapas bars and sitting at a bar, but it wasn't even that. To add insult to injury, when we went to order our dishes, the chicken was down to 1. My son had that and my partner wanted one too and was told "that's fine, we had more coming". After 15 mins, when more on the counter, he went to check, as they said they'd bring it over and all but called him a liar. No, we.hadnt ordered. They finally realised the mistake, but it was just a sorry. I've wanted to visit it before, so this looked a nice night. Nice food, rubbish service. And seriously, you might want to maximise covers. But an empty 2 table with a third chair would have been fine. And there were several available. Really poor, but most of all,.rubbish service and frankly,...

So sad, book a table for three over a month ago, had a beer outside at a local brewery before where signed stated to drop in at 6 or call for a table, our booking was booked for 6.30pm- we arrived at 6.30 to be seated on a breakfast style table (all three in a row, hardly wide enough to fit a plate on each) even though there were double tables free, so all three bunched up on a tiny breakfast table right outside the kitchen door so staff had to squeeze by, I asked for a biggie table as there were double tables free but they said they were booked even though we booked a month before , so things were not great from the start, second they got my order wrong, when I questioned it the waitress behind the counter voiced to her colleague I was wrong and they had brought my meal, I had to protest again when she then checked with my server and realised she was wrong, she apologised and said she made a mistake but didn’t really say sorry and seemed more annoyed that she was wrong than making us feel better, I’ve worked in hospitality, I understand it’s a bank holiday and they have probably been busy, but the service was very poor which is such a shame as we had so much hope and excitement, the food we had edad great, but let down by service which is a massive part of eating out,...

Lovely restaurant, lovely setting, feels like you're in Spain.

We had an issue with our booking. Called up and left VM to book. We then got a text back saying there was space at 715. We replied yes please. Arrived at restaurant and was told no booking. Showed them text and they said we should have called and not replied to their text message. How odd.

They seated us, not at a table, but at the bar, facing a wall, wasn't what we had in mind and was disappointed, anyways they said sorry and took our order and offered us some olives which we accepted.

We did ask to sit outside but apparently no mains out side, only drinks and bar snacks... Again, not sure why and just seems so backwards.

Food was nice. Expensive dishes. The chicken dish was £12 and it wasn't even a full breast of chicken. And the fish was £9 and was really small. Portion sizes need looking at Vs price. And the olives I mentioned earlier were added to the bill without telling us! £4!! Really naughty!!

Anyways we paid and left, we won't be going back. Whole experience left a sour taste in our mouth and disappointed with their reactions about the booking and how we should have replied via phone call to their text message. Not on!

Loads of places to eat around there, do your...
