The manager -

Can only be described as the rudest man ever and the owner of the inn ought to reconsider who he has left in charge!! We stayed here for my birthday weekend and we will never set foot in this place ever again! The manager thought it would be funny to insult my husband (described it as banter) as we walked through the pub to our room after our evening out. We hadn't met the manager before this point, yet he felt it appropriate to call my husband an insulting name, not once, but three times! It was completely out of line, uncalled for and inappropriate. It caused a lot of upset for myself and our friends so much so that we considered packing our bags at 11.30pm just to get away from him. He did apologise but the fact is he shouldn't insult his customers.

The rooms -

Small and dated but ok. The TVs do not work, the bathroom is very small and the shower is appalling.

The location -

Great location by day but come the night time, not the best place to stay if you want to get any sleep! Windows are not double glazed and you can hear EVERYTHING all night long from rowdy people leaving the pubs/clubs to people emptying bottle banks and deliveries early in...

Ordered 2 drinks, double checked the £2.15 deal was on. Enjoyed our drinks and then realised we had been charged £23.70. Spoke to staff and after a long wait we’re refunded £9, far less than owed, and told “don’t come back in an hour asking for more”. Rude considering the unfair refund, but maybe as they knew it was unfair. :(

**edit: reply to owner response: Firstly, as stated, we did not realise the price we had been charged immediately. When we checked the time we noticed the bank notification stated the incorrect price, we had finished most of our drinks by this point. After realising we immediately approached the bar.

When we ordered we asked about the deal, specified that we wanted to order this deal, and checked multiple times the spirits we ordered were included, of which we were assured; so the reasonable person would assume we would be charged the amount advertised.

We did not reorder. We were refunded £9.40, this is not the exact difference between £23.70 and the two drinks priced at £2.15 each (it should be £19.40).

The amount refunded is not the main issue, we are more disappointed by the service and what your response...

My friend and I went here on Sunday before going to the Theatre Royal as we have done for quite a while. We ordered our drinks and were then told after they had been poured that they were not doing good as the Chef had gone home, this was 5.30 in the afternoon. We were then told it was under new management as the previous couple had retired. This used to be a lovely pub with really good food. So instead of a nice meal we had to make do with a packet of crisps each. Not the way to start a night out. If we had been told before we ordered drinks that we couldn't get food, we would have gone elsewhere. Not a place I will go into again. Such a shame because it used to be so...
