On Wednesday 24th of August 2021 my partner and I visited Scarborough , we decided to get something to eat and having been to the Princess Cafe several years ago and enjoyed our meals thought we would go again , we both ordered chips , garden peas and sausage , in addition to this I also had a fried egg . My partner ordered a coffee and i ordered a tea . The meals arrived but no drinks anyway my egg arrived slimy and undercooked , the garden peas were hard and flavourless the chips were dry and flavourless and the first sausage I ate was ok but the 2nd tasted funny so I didn't eat any more , my partner ate the sausage's but several hours later had a very upset stomach . I asked for the bill and told the and told the person who brought it why we hadn't eaten our meals , they charged me £18 and because we were very short on time ( parking meter ) paid the full bill as by now we hadn't the time to stay and argue by the way the drink's we had ordered never arrived , this was the WORST meal I have ever had served to me as I and I am very glad I hadn't done any more than sample it as I said my partner ate a little more than me and ended up poorly , I will never go there again and I will advise my friends and family who visit Scarborough to avoid this place like the plague I would have liked to give NO star but couldn't find...
Read moreOn arrival was promptly told "upstairs only, you cannot sit down here" I am a lady who has a condition called lipoedema with secondary lymphoedema. It affects my legs and causes lots of pain. I did say I struggled with my legs, to which I was told ,"well the toilets are upstairs" I was in two minds to leave but I did not want to embarrass my family I struggled up the stairs. The staff who were serving upstairs were very friendly and were good with explaining the Gluten free menu. Food was ordered I went for the fishcakes , we also ordered GF fish and chips and scampi. The cafe was soon filling up although there was not a lot if space between tables and some families struggled to fit in the spaces. The food arrived and to be honest the fishcakes did not look very appealing. They were soft and tasty inside with quite a lot of fish in them. I did not eat the coating/outside as this was very dry and hard. The chips were freshly cooked. The other two meals were very nice. The portions were good. The price was good for the meal. When we left the downstairs was full. So not quite sure why we could not have sat there. A nice gem of a seaside traditional cafe, perhaps a look at some basic manners and understanding that some...
Read moreWhen entering the cafe , seemed quite nice and pleasant , we were sat down and given a menu , then almost just 2 minutes after sitting down I was starting to feel like I was being rushed to order , anyway we ordered 2 breakfast, when asked if we could not have fried toast and some extra toast instead, this seemed to be too much to ask for so we just had the waisted fried bread ... breakfast was ok , bit too greasy for my liking ... anyhow, what really got my blood boiling was when paying for my bill , I asked for it , the didn't even give me a receipt of my bill , just said that will be such and such , I asked the waiter if I could pay by card he then took my card off me and said I'll get the machine so as I was waiting I heard the contactless noise go off !!! The waiter basically used my card to pay for my own bill without my permission, When I also wanted to use chip and pin , absolutely disgusting!! And when I asked him he just said "oh yeah I did , sorry " in a very I don't care docile voice , and then to laugh and snigger to his co worker as we were leaving !! Get some new better staff , they will ruin...
