This is the mother of all noisest j d wetherspoons iv ever been to, the other wetherspoons William Henry the other end of the road staff tell people not to swear & use bad language the swan staff want the customers to shout & swear, think that sort of behaviour is amazing. Children are allowed in the swan this last couple of years but not many families go in the swan with all the shouting going on. They even reserve tables for the ones with the biggest mouths, been in over 150 JD wetherspoons & have never seen tables reserved B4, swan must be losing customers as they don't sit at tables reserved & go on somewhere else to spend their money, a table could be reserved from say 2 pm & the reserve paper will go on the table a few hours before & people won't sit there in case they get told off, if you do sit at a table reserve & it's still hours away before the time you will get the evil eye from the little woman & maybe a stern warning, half the time the people who reserve tables don't turn up, Swan prices are higher than most wetherspoons, fish & chips £13.90, more than real fish & chips. Most customers in the swan do loud laughs every time they open their mouths & it gets on my nerves to hear it all, there's a yard out the back full of smoke, thought they ban smoking, its very dark in the swan & in need of better lighting, theres too many chairs & tables & difficult to walk round, swan don't sell coke the only drink worth having, so basically not worth coming in and putting up with all the shouting, saw the boss in here doing one of his Brexit talks & he was surrounded with his own body guards that he brought with him, he had the right idea, all I can afford is cotton wool in my ears to reduced the...
Read moreI've used Weatherspoons many, many times and have always appreciated it for what it is: Affordable, basic food. This said, our visit to the Swan was more than dissapointing. We ordered 2 lots of the hunters chicken, the steak pudding and a jacket spud with beans and cheese. All were really poor. There was a tiny amount of BBQ sauce on the hunters chicken so we went to look for some in the sauces only to be told that you now have to pay for it!! At 99p for a tiny pot. I politely pointed out that hunters chicken is a bbq flavoured meal and every other wetherspoons supplies it with plenty on. I was simply told "if you want more, you'll have to pay for it". Customer service was awful. The portion sizes of all of the meals is dramatically smaller than they were and the prices higher. The steak pudding was cold in the middle and there were 12 chips on the plate...........the peas were nice, that was all. I did pass comment to a member of staff who didn't even manage words. We got a shrug. I travel the country extensively with my work and wetherspoons is always the first place I put into my sat nav for a breakfast or lunch. No more. From now on I will simply search for Greggs or Green king/hungry horse for something cheep and cheerful. I've always spoken in support of Wetherspoons when others have not. I doubt I will again. Pick up your game Wetgerspoons, you're going downhill fast but...
Read moreAlways have to visit a spoons when you're on holiday right?
If you've got kids, don't visit this one! We were sat in the restaurant for over 90 minutes and saw dozens of families turned away as they do not allow children in this building! Even at 17:15 (which is when we were there)! So be warned! Surprised that in a tourist town like Weymouth (in the summer holidays) that this is actually a thing, but apparently so!
Ordering at the bar also took a while! Prompted me to the download the Wetherspoons app which enables you to order drinks straight to your table! Did it twice, first drink came in under a minute, the next (a more complicated cocktail), came in 90 seconds! Very impressed!
Starter was nice! Main was ok, chips were a tad dry. They provide nearly almost all types of sauce in a bottle with the exception of BBQ, which I had to pay extra for? No idea why, seems stupid!
Other than what I mentioned previously, it was generally ok!
Also, in the area we were sitting there was a particular strong/cold draught!
Definitely not the best Spoons I've ever visited. Would probably visit The William Henry...
