Finally visited this gem after months of sitting in my ‘places to go’ list. I will say, it absolutely did not disappoint, it may just be the best spot in Leicester. I visited with a friend, with the aim to have a chat over great food and wine. From the moment we were seated, there wasn’t a second I did not enjoy my meal here. We were served by the wonderful Lene who made our visit unforgettable. She was so kind, knowledgeable and a great laugh. She was evidently so passionate about the wine and food, which is what a foodie like me thrives off! She made excellent food recommendations (we opted for the BEAUTIFUL grande board, which I WILL return for) and even suggested pairings. The meats and cheeses were undoubtedly authentic, and the condiments were flavourful and fresh. As wine enthusiasts, were recommended to try Zibibbo, which was not too dry, pleasant, a little acidic, and well-rounded. Exactly what you need to cut through fatty meat and cheese. I definitely recommend! Unfortunately, they were out of the well-anticipated tiramisu’s (I will be returning for these too!) Lene went above and beyond to ensure the our experience was impeccable, we even learnt some Italian! For her service alone, I would give the establishment 10 stars if I could. Graci Lene!!

We visited Veeno during their 50% discount promotion on all food items to celebrate their new menu (excluding alcohol). Upon arrival, we were informed that dishes are served as they are ready, which was no issue for us. The food was outstanding, authentically Italian, beautifully presented, and reasonably portioned. The wines we chose were equally exquisite. We started with an Aperitivo Board to share, which had a great selection of meats, breads, and more—a fantastic start to our meal. For the mains, I had the tagliatelle ai funghi and my partner had the tagliatelle al ragù. Both dishes were flavorful and rich. Veeno is renowned for its excellent wine selection, and a lovely staff member, Lene, provided invaluable assistance in pairing a wine with my meal. Her recommendation was spot on! There was a slight error with our bill—additional items we hadn’t ordered were included. Fortunately, I noticed it immediately, and Lene quickly corrected the mistake. This minor issue is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. Note: Veeno is a cashless establishment, so plan accordingly. I also recommend booking a table online in advance, as reservations fill up quickly. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Veeno for the food, the wine, or both!

My partner and I have been regulars every 2 weeks since February this year and we must say the food is absolutely fantastic. The service has always been top notch, and we always highly recommend anyone to try the Grande Board alongside a bottle on their Inzolia white wine. The only thing that has let us down on this 1 occasion is the fact we pre booked the booth for a birthday dinner, double checked with staff that the booth would be booked, and sadly on arrival, it was given to somebody else. While we understand people may complain if they don’t get the booth, but when you pre book the booth 4 weeks in advance, then double check a week before while eating in that same booth…it was somewhat a slap in the face to arrive and not have the thing you pre booked, especially for an occasion. However, I must say we can’t grumble about the food or service, that in itself is always top-notch and has never disappointed. The 1 missing star in this review is purely based on the letdown from a booking we made in advance and double checked before arrival.

edit 11/08 Moved to 2 stars, Nino and Alex reached out at the end of July to apologise for the messaging and that wording seemed to state larger groups were more important. They invited us to visit 09/08. I've raise a new review for that visit at 5 stars.

I hope this doesn't happen to anybody else. Awful customer service / respect. Booked for the Quattro Rossi tasting on 30/08 at 8pm to celebrate a Birthday. Made the booking via the website on 17/06. Friday evening 18/07 was sent an email that stated

We wanted to let you know that, due to a large private event of 100 guests on the same day, we’re unable to accommodate your booking at the originally scheduled time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and truly appreciate your understanding.

We would be happy to offer you an alternative time between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, and we’ll do our best to make your visit just as enjoyable.

They tried to make out it was due to booking on-line and not calling the premises! It is their on-line booking platform and booked 4-5 weeks ago, if an error why not reply within 48 hours.

It looks like greed to me. Be warned small groups / couples you are at risk of being bumped if an equiry is made by a larger party at a later time.

Would love to be able to review the food/wine, being a cheese and wine lover, sadly after this experience will be looking at alternative options for this night. They have lost our...

A group of new mums and I came to Veeno for our first girls night out since having babies. We were taken to the upstairs seating area.

The pros: Lots of options for vegetarians and vegans. Our waiter was very enthusiastic and friendly.

The cons: We were sat next to an extremely loud large party table and the waiter never went over to request them to keep the noise down a little. Everyone else sat around us were extremely frustrated as well. As a result we were shouting just to have a normal conversation

-A few of the wine options on the menu weren't available when two people in my group wanted to order them.

-There was a significant delay in getting everyones food. We all wanted to wait till we all got our mains to start eating, but turns out the kitchen forgot to make my friends pizza. Our food went cold and I ended up sharing my pizza with my friend while they made her pizza. My other friend's garlic bread was also forgotten after two reminders. The waiter did offer her a free drink because of the mess up, but what would have been better is getting the food ordered.

I thought the vegetarian pizza I ordered tasted just OK.

All in all, the entire dining experience fell short of my expectations. I was very excited to get out for the first time after having a baby, but I came home feeling unsatisfied with a raspy throat from all that yelling!

Not sure I would come...

They have a solid wine selection, with a nice ambiance upstairs. I had two glasses of wines and all were really nice.

Mishka was friendly and was able to accommodate most of what we asked for that evening. The cheese board was nice but needed far more bread (a few small bits, for a sharing platter for two? Come on); when I asked for more, an order of breads and oil was brought out, which we were charged for.

Food was generally OK; I'm glad we had the 50% off food offer on or I'd have been a little disappointed, given the usual prices. Main dishes, pizzas, pastas etc hover around £14/15 ordinarily. The lasagne was tasty but a small portion, served in a small baking dish. The pasta my friend had was nice apparently, but the pepperoni pizza seemed a bit underdone and you can find better for cheaper in Leicester. The arancini (which comes as one larger arancini) was decent but oddly hard on parts of the outside.

The bill came to about £33 a head with two starters and a sharing cheese board (for two), extra bread between us and a main each, plus two glasses of wine each and service. It was a good experience at this price, but would have been about £46 each without the 50% food discount.

I might revisit but only for a few glasses of wine and some...
