Came here based on the menu on the website and the reviews.
Unfortunately the Sunday lunch was terrible. We both had the half roast chicken option. The chicken was ok but the rest was terrible. Boiled white cabbage, boiled carrots and broccoli and bland roast potatoes.
The website also advertises that the Sunday lunch comes with fluffy mash potatoes - it didn’t. And homemade Yorkshire pudding - it was definitely a frozen Yorkshire pudding. The online menu also says ‘large pig in blanket’ with the turkey and chicken option. This also isn’t true, there were no pigs in blankets.
Please don’t advertise these if you aren’t going to provide them. There was no Sunday lunch menu in the pub so couldn’t reconfirm when in there. (There’s a chalk board that advertises the meat options and vegetables, it doesn’t mention the other trimmings).
I’m just glad that the price was on the lower side as if it had been any more I’d of certainly sent it back.
Bar service was good and friendly, but nobody came to ask how the meal was.
Avoid. Pay more for a better meal elsewhere. And don’t believe what you read on the menu on the website.

Read moreGreat disappointment. 3rd February, 2024. I used to come here forty years ago when I was sixteen so thought I’d visit again. I took my 78 year old mother there for a quick drink. She has a Brussels Griffin dog who is tiny. My mum sat down at a table. I wasn’t impressed by the barmaid who seemed more interested in larking about with an older guy called Alan. I ordered two drinks. She then turned and looked at my mum and asked if she had a dog. I was very tempted to be sarcastic at that point and reply no, a dinosaur. I was then told that the pub didn’t accept dogs so I replied I couldn’t have the drinks then. We left. It was ridiculous. I couldn’t see a sign on the door saying no dogs. Weymouth is a very dog friendly place and so I don’t see what the problem was. We went to the White Hart instead, again a place I’ve been going to for forty years. They had dog treats and everything out for customers. The Wellington lost out on about eight pounds all for a ridiculous policy and a barmaid who, if she had been paying attention from the start, could have said no...
Read moreWell we made it, got here about 3 30pm lots of space after the midday lunch rush, I had cowboy burger with cheesy 🧀 chips and Lyn had the ultimate southern fried chicken burger, once again lovely food, the two barmaids Emma and Tash were very friendly and full of fun as always, such a great welcome, now desert time, Lyn and I both love this place, that's why we keep coming back, very reasonable prices well worth the money, it was nice to relax after a days work, top marks yet again. Update, as per usual we returned to the Wellington and had a lovely Sunday roast, with extra cauliflower cheese, loved it, perfect once again...
