I'm (pretty) great at eating. However, The further backwards along the path from eating to cooking to preparing to catching [in this case, specifically, fish], the less capable I become. I'm more than happy to outsource all of that and any potential washing up and most definitely winkling out bits of crab shell from the mush I've just smashed up with a unreasonably large hammer. I'll always choose a salad box over anything in ciabatta, but that's fine, those rolls fly out almost without any assistance - leave it too late and they've sold out anyway! I like that there's rocket (roquette.. ?) mixed in the lettuce, I like that the tomato isn't boring wedges. I prefer the pickle of the beetroot to the fat of the mayo. Portion size is great. It'd be great if you got a chunk of white with the brown meat but as I'm not catching, cleaning, picking or dressing those crabs myself, nor controlling the just right balance of not too warm sunshine and not too chill breeze, I appreciate that all of the freshness is packed into your lunch. Always been busy, when it's gone, it's gone. Maybe take a chance when...
Read moreBrighton Smokehouse I've been a fan since moving here a couple of years ago, you always deliver.
We came along last Sunday and once again you fed us brilliantly. The service here is always chirpy and fun with chat, advice and recommendations galore.
Whitebait with a faultless crunchy batter that's not at all greasy. Smoked Mackerel sandwich that pack a sublime punch, oozing with a perfect accompaniment of beetroot. Seabass Sandwhiches that had us cooing. And of course, that Fishfinger sandwich... There is no finer in Brighton and who knows how far you'd have to travel to match it.
Captain Birdseye knows it, we know it.... Brighton knows it. You're brilliant, keep doing what you're doing.
Very dog friendly too, with Annabel and the team offering out treats and fuss.
I'd give you 6 stars, but one had clearly dropped and stuck to Annabel's chin. So it'll...
Read moreEverything would be great if the woman cook washed her hands before cooking, before that she threw a ball to the dog... I really hope that I just didn’t see her washing them. Based on the popularity of this place on the map, I expected something more. But overall it’s a cozy family establishment, everything is fresh. You can only sit outside. The guy working there is a very nice, curly-haired guy, so cute that he gets confused about what type of bread he ordered. The presentation is heartfelt. Very simple and atmospheric, on the seashore. You can eat on a chair near the cafe, or take it with you and sit right on the shore. At a nearby coffee shop, the owner has a dog that he takes with him, she is very kind and happy with everyone. A lot of people come with pets. The place is very cozy. The main thing is...
