On Sunday I had the pleasure of dining at Brighton Music Hall for their first week of winter roasts!! I Dined here last year for their roasts and really enjoyed to food and atmosphere. But this year was even better!! I went for the Roast Pork and it was absolutely insane! Pork was cooked to perfection, wasn’t chewy like some other places. The potatoes and veg were equally as good, very moreish. But the absolute winner for me was the cauliflower cheese! the cheese sauce was perfect and having it on the same place pairing it with the gravy was just soooo good. A brilliant roast and a drag show, whats not to love about this place. Being a student I typically don’t dine out much, but I can safely say I will be coming back! The Drag roasts are a must go if you’re a resident or a tourist coming down to Brighton. The staff are so lovely, I was served by Maddie whose service was top notch. I will be recommending the venue and roasts to my friends and family. Don’t miss out this winter :)

Low quality greasy food for high prices, grub and crumbs of food all over the table, slightly angled seats in the hut so you slip off them, rude manager, terrible and ugly AI generated images everywhere. More specifically the bread on my kebab was stale and tough, the salad on said kebab contained raw cabbage which had been prepped so long ago it had oxidised. There is also a 50p music charge that isn’t unreasonable but they go to great lengths to not tell you about it. My sister who had the tomato and basil soup with cheesy toast also had a terrible experience, the bread was untoasted and the cheese was burnt and rubbery. The plates and other crockery was also grubby The decor is repulsive, AI generated images line the walls and menu and the fake flower decor on the ceiling is COVERED IN MOULD. The windows were also broken which could easily be a safety hazard. The music is fine though.

Staff were rude, didn't look as tough they wanted to be there. After working behind bars and as a waitress for 7 + year, (plus my boyfriend currently working in the same business) I was absolutely appalled and disgusted by the lack of 'customer service' in this place. I will not be returning again.

There was one girl in particular - dark long hair, petite. She was rude to two of the customers in front of me. One guy asked for 5 pints of larger and 5 pints of cider, her response was 'yeah but what beer do you want?' Doesn't sound rude via writing this but in person it was very rude and the face she pulled was DISGUSTING. When she finished serving (and being rude to this customer) she stood behind the bar for about 30 seconds and then said, again very rudely 'well? Who's next then?' Instead of noticing the customers around her whilst serving her previous customer and kindly asking who was next. The customers replied 'I'm guessing that's us' and her reply was 'you to tell me' (this isn't the customers job, it is her responsibility to notice what is going on around her, especially when customers are being patient) She then gave a look of disgust (or a 'who the hell do they think they are' kind of look) to her colleague who replied with the same look followed by a laugh. When I looked at the customers she was serving their faces were of disbelief (as the customer she had just previously served.) I looked at her because I couldn't believe what I was seeing or hearing. She asked me if I was waiting to be served and I replied no - I clearly had a glass of wine in my hand. Her response again was vile, so I loudly said to my boyfriend 'her attitude was disgusting.' To which she complained to the customers she was currently serving (who she was rude to initially!!) The guy who served a glass of wine to myself asked what size I wanted to which I replied a medium - his response was 'we only do medium or large.' Obviously this guy wasn't listening to what I had asked of him. Rude.

After we had been served we sat outside and listened to music. There were people dancing and drinking which was lovely but it also attracted a lot of homeless drunks (they were very drunk) - one of them dropped a bottle of wine to which this smashed all over a customer. The lack of notice in this place is ridiculous. There should have been staff outside monitoring this and keeping an eye on these people.

Again - I will not be going here again and I advise other people not to as well - unless you enjoy a big lack of customer...

A roast. A roast is lovely. Much like with pizza, tiramisu or long walks along the beach, even roasts of sub-par quality have the potential to satisfy those deep, ancient yearnings for experiences reflecting elements of the human condition which are treasured yet never fully understood. Within the experiential spectrum of my personal roast consumption thus far, I have drank deeply from the diverse cup of the roast rainbow. I have been satisfied, surprised, pleased, dissapointed and even scared in all manner of venues, contexts and situations in which there have been roasts. I have roasted, been roasted for and been roasted.

Whist past roast memories provide us the viable knowledge against which current roasts are compared , it is the roasts of the moment which provide the experiences to uphold the actual meaning of a roast. It is thus important for me to focus now on the roast of this very moment, which is the vegan sunday roast from the brighton music hall.

Potatoes Whilst generally considered a side thing, the potatoes were a real main feature of this meal. Crispy to the point of translucency, fluffy like a thosand pillows, and a flavour profile I thought a mere potato wouldnt have the capacity to contain.

Pie thing Pie thing was lovely, soft and fluffy exterior, with a home county wholesome filling which left me feeing hearty and nostalgic for mothers best garden.

Veg The vegetables were plentiful in their abundance and diversity - the carrots were soft like butter; slide down your throat soft. Kale crispy and sassy. Broccoli was severly moist to the touch - explode in your mouth moist.

Gravy Delightful miniature gravy boats with umami laden gravy infused with rosemary sprigs. An umami tsunami off the richter scale, or whatever oceanic disasters get assessed based on - potentiall a "lichter" scale.

Verbosity aside, this roast was a 9.5/10, my only slight gripe with it was that the yorkshire pudding was a bit hard. But theres no roast rainbows...

Go to shelter hall instead !

Came here a couple days ago while I was visiting a friend, service was absolutely brilliant and staff were lovely. My group had some chips and drinks which were really nice as well (though portion size was a little small but it’s Brighton so hey). I wasn’t planning on writing a review at all due to quite an awful experience towards the end that ruined it completely but I can’t get it out of my mind and both me and my group feel as though this needs to be brought to the owner’s attention.

My whole group were made very uncomfortable by who I assume was the manager, causing a scene yelling in the face of one the members of staff who was clearly run off her feet in a very busy time and doing her best despite it looking like they were understaffed for the rush. This was obviously no one’s fault but potentially the managers for not scheduling more people but I didn’t see anyone complaining or making a fuss. As someone who has worked in service myself I thought that it was quite frankly out of order and I was horrified to see someone behaving like that to an employee in front of customers let alone how he must act when people aren’t around !!! The altercation from the man made me and everyone at my table as well as other customers near us visibly uneasy and my partner wanted to complain but I thought the young lady might get in trouble and so instead we just left. Luckily a couple mins walk away towards the pier there’s a lovely place called shelter hall which does very good espresso martinis and still has a nice outdoor area if you’re up for that! so we could finish my trip on a positive note.

definitely won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone! It quite frankly nearly...
