Was really looking forward to visiting this fairly newly opened steak place in Dundee. However, didn’t meet up to expectations... From the second stepping foot in the door, a man which looked to be the manager shouted over "you booked?". No Hi, hello, how are you. Provided the name and located where we are sitting. Got seated at the most cramped table I’ve ever seen. Located partially in the middle of the restaurant, stuck between two tables tightly close to one another. Table behind was also located inches behind me. Providing not much walking space towards rest tables past us. Every time someone walked past got nudged or elbowed in the head. Table very small for a two if you get anything more apart from water, as the table lamp does take up a fair amount of space. Service, non-existent - servers were just congregating around the bar, chatting and laughing away then running out if something hilarious was said. Kept opening the fire exit for smoke breaks. Ordered our meal, everything fine. Once the meal arrived, we were met with a very rude girl. Looked like she was annoyed, and we caused her an inconvenience that there’s no space on their small table to place the oversized plate with the chateaubriand, the few small sides and our main plates. The "vine tomatoes" aka 1 small half of grilled tomato with a few leaf’s of salad didn’t match the garnish we expected from the menu. Our food lost its temperature within a couple minutes with the staff leaving the fire exit open constantly, leaving us sitting in the open field of the draught - not an impressive experience. Finished off our cold meal, without a courtesy check, which is a principle at any decent restaurant. Guess the staff were more interested in guarding the bar. Had our plates taken away. Given dessert menu then ordered one to share. Same rude lady returned, majorly confused at us why we ordered a dessert to share, then once clarifying she chucked it onto the table. Sticky toffee pudding industry standard good. Teaspoon scoop of vanilla ice cream showing how stingy they are with something very cheap. Guess its down to the cost-of-living crisis. Would possibly reconsider revisiting in the long,...

Service was absolutely fantastic, with staff always on hand to help. They went out of their way to look for things, maybe not initially covered by the menu.

Food tasted amazing, steak was cooked perfectly, and oysters were fresh, very well priced, and well presented. They have an amazing array of available side dishes, all of which we wanted to order. Was difficult to narrow it down. Cauliflower cheese with truffle, fries, and baby broccoli were all fantastic.

The restaurant was upmarket and well decorated, and the bar was well stocked. The drinks menu has a good selection of beers, wines, and cocktails.

The atmosphere was a bit quiet. However, it is new, and it was a random weekday evening, so I expect it's much busier at the weekends.

Price wise, it's definitely reasonable if you're looking to enjoy a very good meal. The most expensive steak on the menu was £40, excluding any market price offers they have.

Desert selection was small, but I feel there was still something available to everyone. It's very well priced here, with all deserts being £8 each.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food is on par with some of the nicest steakhouses I've tried. I will definitely be...

I booked a table at Don Padrino for my husbands birthday and was not disappointed. On arrival with our teenager we were very impressed with the restaurant very cosy and well decorated with themed pictures on the wall. Staff were welcoming from the minute we walked in. I regret we didnt get the name of our server as he was attentive and friendly offering recommendations went the extra mile upon finding out it was my husbands birthday.

Our starters of chicken wings and halloumi were delicious. My husband loved the scotch bonnet jam.

We all had steaks for mains which were cooked just as we asked and of the best quality. The good choice of sides meant there was something for everyone to enjoy. The potato mash was my favourite.

We finished off with 3 tasty desserts. The best Sticky Toffee Pudding ive had and teenager opted for lemon cheesecake. Husband was given tiramasu with a birthday candle and Happy Birthday sung by staff. Which im sure they loved! Lol.

We visit Glasgow and Edinburgh for good restaurants and so glad we were recommended Don Padrinos. Its exactly what Dundee needs, a fabulous restaurant with amazing service and first class food.

Highly recommended and we will...

It's totally worth it! Italian style steak/fish in dundee? I had my doubts. I was very impressed. The service was very smooth, especially considering they had just opened. It's elegant but not pushy and very reasonably priced There isn't really an affordable, fine dining place in dundee where you can feel truly accepted no matter what your budget. We ordered the oysters first along with steak, fish cakes, and two sides. The steak is priced a la carte (on its own) with sides at £4 each. I think this is ideal for people looking not to spend too much on a great steak! Think date night! The black pudding mushrooms are fabulous. The oysters were breaded and fried, which was disappointing, but this was a personal preference. But overall, I was well chuffed! A few notes for improvement: Definitely serve the homemade tartar sauce with the fish cake! I'm soooo glad I asked for it. It cuts through the smokiness perfectly 👌. Complimentary bread would be a nice touch and keep with the Italian feel. Similarly, an italian soup! We weren't offered the mussel special, which was on the board, but this may have been because they had run out. Please keep up the good work. It was great. We will be back!!!

🥩 Don Padrino Dundee – A Steak You Can’t Refuse “GOT BEEF? SETTLE IT OVER A 30OZ T-BONE.” And that’s exactly what we did. The scene: two hungry associates. The mission: to conquer the Commissioner’s Cut—a 30oz T-Bone grilled to perfection, served with a pair of sharp sauces that meant business. Whisky Pepper Sauce on one side, smoother than a backroom deal. Wild Garlic Butter on the other, rich enough to bribe a consigliere. Sides? You bet. Truffle Fries that were crisp, golden, and laced with enough luxury to make you question your life choices. Beer-battered Onion Rings? Let’s just say—light, crunchy, and worth doing time for. Every bite was a made-man moment. Char lines straight from the grill, juicy inside with enough flavour to silence the table. We closed the deal with a Sticky Toffee Pudding—because even in the underworld, you always leave room for dessert. Warm, rich, drenched in sauce… Mama would be proud. VERDICT: Don Padrino isn’t just a steakhouse—it’s a declaration of intent. If you’re gonna eat like a boss, eat like this. Dundee’s got itself a new godfather of meat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Leave the gun. Bring the T-bone.
