Big cross contamination issue!! Absolutely awful!! I do not recommend going to Fortes if you have an allergy of any sort as the staff are clearly either unaware, uneducated or uninterested in the issues and severity of the consequences that can occur from cross contamination. The staff lied multiple times about the cross contamination of ice cream where it was evident in taste and appearance. I myself am celiac meaning I can’t have gluten, I’m a regular customer(have been for years) so I know which flavours I can have. In my most recent visit I was given ice cream that had gluten in. After multiple times explaining that I could taste the difference and see that the particular ice cream scoop was much lighter in colour, they eventually gave me a spoon to scoop the ice cream off myself! They then made a milkshake with this SAME ice cream which again I also had to confront them about - the staff begrudgingly made another milkshake and opened a new tub of the correct/uncontaminated ice cream. They should have made a new one regardless and it was not an unreasonable concern for someone who is allergic to gluten to want reassurance and conformation. They were adamant no mistakes were made, lying to us the entire time whilst making us feel incredibly unwelcome. Delicious ice cream, though latest experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Family visit, we had already ordered and paid for 4 separate ice creams, which were all fine. Got a 5th one, double scoop. On getting to the second scoop realised they'd given us the wrong flavour (rum & raisin, instead of white chocolate I had asked for, as I was sharing with young children). They insisted I was wrong (by smelling it) and didn't offer to replace it. I asked to taste the white choc, and it was clearly different and not what they had given me, which I told them. After already spending £23 on ice cream, if I just wanted another one, I would have paid. I wasn't expecting to go there to get gaslit! If you're looking for the best ice cream in Llandudno, look no further! During my visit, I had the pleasure of being served by a lovely lady who was incredibly generous and courteous. She allowed us to sample several flavors, which made it so much easier to choose our favorites. I highly recommend trying the Coffee ice cream; it is absolutely one of the best flavors I’ve ever tasted!
