Me husband and 2 kiddies went for breakfast, was really excited to try 4.7 ratings cafe in walking distance from the hotel. First thing we came in was immediately told to leave our umbrellas out front, we havnt even settled in a table at this point, we have 2 umbrellas, only had time to put 1 under our buggy and was in process of getting to table then put the other one under there too. Once we got babies out sitting at the table we were told to park buggies near the kitchen counter so "someone else can sit behind you". Appreciate you are busy and want to free up space. But theres different way to communicate with customers, you are in customers service after all. We felt unwelcome and staffs attitude was very condescending. Food was also average, we paid cheaper for tatstier breakfast this trip alone. My husband wanted to ask for another butter as he was given only enough butter to put on one slice of toast but was told to pay 20p for it. He did ask for manager cuz we had enough at this point and she then told us it was a mistake, apparently you can have the cirst 2 free and then after that itd be 20p extra each. Only good thing i had was the mumbai masala latte. Safe to say we will not come back or...

Edit: I know the difference between cream soaked and raw dough, the gummy raw flour taste is obvious. You can see it in the pictures. I doubt your people tasted it, or felt it or did more than glance at it as it was almost immediately returned to the table, and if they had done then they wouldn't have been able to return it. It being raw I can say as a fact, as someone with baking experience. The response is telling, any bakery no matter how good, could have an underbaked pastry, a refusal to admit it is the problem. I get tourists are annoying, but any bakery worth there salt would have been concerned, not dismissive. The customer isn't always right, but they aren't always wrong either.

Honestly makes me question all the 5 star reviews with similar wording and pictures...FYI you can look it up but Inverness has an fake review problem maybe case here.

Original review: The pastry was raw, that happens. We told the wait staff and she took it away then came back and said it's supposed to be that way and gave it back ... Uncooked dough has an unmistakable flavour and texture. It wasn't undercooked it was straight up Gordon Ramsay's level of raw.... Hope no...

XOXO bakehouse and cantina – A Disappointing Experience

Visited on a busy day and were encouraged to order takeaway, so we got two flat whites and an almond croissant, £12 total. While waiting at the bar for our order, the coffee came first, followed by the croissant. Unfortunately, as the server handed it over, she knocked over my coffee, spilling it on my jacket, jeans, and trainers. Accidents happen, no big deal, and she did offer to remake it, which I accepted.

We took a seat on one of the two outdoor picnic benches to enjoy what we'd just bought, only to be approached by a young staff member who politely, but clearly uncomfortably, told us that takeaway items couldn't be consumed on their benches. A rule like that, especially when you've spent £12 on coffee and a pastry, feels petty and unwelcoming, and there was no signage anywhere stating it.

It was disappointing to see more senior staff avoid the interaction, leaving a young employee to enforce such a poor policy. If you're going to have rules like this, they should be clearly communicated and ideally reconsidered. I won’t be returning. It felt like paying to be treated...

From the day my son asks for his first weekend of the month treat to be breakfast at XOKO . I fell in love with this place. I don't know what it is, the coffee, the food that your heart desires, the music,  the staff, or that as a customer, I am always treated with respect. If I need a coffee, a pastry, a laugh, a place to meet friends or a place to write my book. I go to XOKO for the atmosphere is amazing, the music is incredible and I can be myself but only in the " Best possible Taste " Kenny Everett. Please google Kenny Everett. Now I don't work there, I have a staff badge that says Busboy so if you leave a mess and the place is busy I will bust your table for it's my way of saying Thankyou So if your looking for a new experience that's  out of this world and has an amazing touch of Latin America  when you are in town or visiting Inverness drop in and say Hello To end this review I am the No 1 Chocoholic and I don't need Therapy

We had breakfast here early in the morning before our train. This is one of the very few places open before 9 in Inverness and they serve a few delicious breakfast options. We had a grilled croissant with bacon and cheese 🧀 🥓 🥐 and a sourdough toast with avocado and tomatoes 🍅 🥑 🍞. Both were excellent! I then also tried the almond and tonca cream croissant - also delicious! The entire menu here is quite interesting with slightly unusual flavors and combinations, a pleasant surprise! They have an open kitchen where you can observe the food preparation and baking process. The coffee was okay, could do with higher fat content milk for the latte as it felt watery and a little burnt. Overall however it was an excellent breakfast! The staff were also nice, everything is clean and the decor is pleasant and stylish. Great spot! ☕️
