Yes, they sell tasty basked goods. So do a lot of places in town...
We called past earlier in the afternoon and since there was a bit of a queue, checked the closing time on the door. 5.30pm - we decided to pass on our way home instead.
5.15pm and the shelves were empty, door locked and two staff cleaning up. For sure they can't magic the pastries back out of nowhere, but I just wanted to let them know their opening hours - painted on the door - were misleading, and disappointing, and ask that they pass that along to the management.
At first the girl behind the glass tried to ignore me. Then when she deigned to come to the door to hear me, she just shrugged, then smirked, then laughed.
Call me old-fashioned, but good customer service costs nothing. The young 'lady' inside took customer service to a new low, and I shall be avoiding this place in future, in preference of e.g. Real Patisserie (where service comes...
Read moreWhenever I stay Brighton, I visit Open Bakery in Kemptown on a daily basis. My breakfast of choice is a small tea (made nice and strong, with the teabag left in) and a cinnamon twirl. Like all the items I’ve tried, these are absolutely superb. If you like a cinnamon twirl, this is the ultimate - supermarket versions just don’t compare. While I’m being served I am often tempted by one of the cakes on display. On my latest visit I tried an almond bite (moist, buttery and delicious), a rum canele (absolutely divine) and a vegan tiramisu cake (rich and tasty). Everything looks so good, it’s hard to choose! The staff are always friendly and welcoming and make time to chat, even though the bakery is often busy. They never make you feel rushed and are helpful and polite. Open Bakery is one of my favourite things about Brighton. I highly recommend a visit and guarantee you will not be...
Read moreCould not speak more highly of Open Bakery. I have business in Brighton only 2-3 times a year. I come here for breakfast every time. Each morning I stand outside at 0655 waiting for the doors to open at 7. Longest 5 minutes of my life! 😁
I disagree with others that OB is expensive. If you eat here you will see why it is at the top of the game versus other locations in quality and flavour. A coffee, croque, and pain au chocolat for under £7. You pay for quality, however by my estimates I got a bargain!
Great breakfast nosh (the bacon, brie, and maple syrup croque is insane delicious, photo attached). The bakery pushes out consistently wonderful breads. The deserts look so good you dont know whether to eat them or keep on display. They hold Sunday bread making classes and even do wedding cakes. The customer service is kind, efficient, and warm. Talk to them! They are quite...
