A blonde bar tender with a tattoo on her neck made me feel very unwelcome. Me and my friends all entered meeting a very hostile welcome, we were all ask for ID which we gave happily, I ordered one pint of beer. After over an hour of nursing my beer i decided to go back to the beer to get another. I was told that i, personally, was “too drunk” and wasn’t to be served anymore. I took this on the chin as not to ruin any of my friends nights. Not minutes later she came to our table to tell us we all had to leave because of myself personally. This is obviously a personal attack and she had a vendetta against me. I had one singular beer the whole night and she made my whole friend group leave the bar. Looking back as soon as we walked in this woman didn’t like us as she made her colleague serve us and she clearly didn’t like me, maybe because I had tattoos and a funny hair colour, assuming I was a student. I was made to feel very unwelcome and was victimised by this witch of a bartender. I hope in future this bar hires workers that are far more welcoming. This stings even more as I recommended all my friends to this bar for a nice time to be met with such a hostile member of staff. She truly picked on me for no reason. I’ve lived here for six years but would certainly not recommend to any visiting tourist. This is the first time I’ve ever felt necessary to make a review that’s how strongly i feel about the way I’ve...

Went out on Friday afternoon for a few pints before meeting up with some friends.

I’ve been to Glasgow a few times and always had great experiences. Sadly, I can't say the same about this place.

We brought along a postcard from the Scotch Piper, our oldest pub locally, as a bit of fun. But I was completely ignored and brushed aside. My girlfriend tried to stay positive, saying maybe they were just busy — but that wasn’t the case.

We sat outside, but the bar man gave us nothing more than a cold look from the door. No greeting, no welcome — just a side-eye. He eventually went inside, so we followed and sat at a table.

No sooner had we sat down than he slapped a piece of A4 paper on the table that read, “This table is booked for…” and said, “I'll give you half an hour,” before walking off. No warmth, no interest.

We were so put off that we left our beers and walked out. I hate to say it, but I can't help but wonder if it was because I’m English — or maybe because I’m from Liverpool.

Either way, we went on to the next stop on our tour and were warmly welcomed there. We felt comfortable and appreciated.

I won’t be going back to that first place again. And am sure they won't mind..stay in town is my advice loads of hospitable people...

„The Scotia” in Glasgow is a true gem and a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the authentic charm of a traditional Scottish pub. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with rustic decor that instantly makes you feel right at home.

The beer and whisky selection is fantastic, catering to every taste. Whether you’re a fan of classic Scottish ales or looking to explore the diverse whisky range, “The Scotia” has you covered, and the friendly bartenders are always ready with a great recommendation.

A standout feature is the live traditional folk music. The musicians bring incredible energy with heartfelt folk tunes and charming ballads that set the perfect mood. The combination of music, a good drink, and friendly company is simply unbeatable.

If you get hungry, the “Pizza & Pint” deal is spot-on for a relaxed evening. The pizza is delicious, and a pint alongside makes for a perfect pairing. It’s easy to spend a few hours here soaking up the warm, lively atmosphere.

For anyone in Glasgow looking for an authentic, vibrant pub experience, “The Scotia” is a top choice. It’s the perfect place to raise a glass and feel the soul...

We went to The Scotia as my wife is an avid Taggart fan, and I must admit, so am I, but she has a better memory than myself and she said it had been in some of the episodes. The atmosphere was great and the bar staff very welcoming. It also has a very musical leaning which we loved also. Being the oldest pub in Glasgow, the historical aspect was also fascinating. The menu was limited, and we didn't eat, but it looked good. The locals were very friendly, and there were a cross section of nationalities forging the hands across the sea network. We sat next to two Belgian ladies also a party from Rumania, and some very jolly Glaswegian gentlemen whom I surmised had sampled a few of the local tipples. All in all, a very entertaining couple of visits and we will recommend it to our friends and English country folk.

Great little bar, places to sit along the bar and a few tables along the edges, the spots fill up fast so if you get there when it’s busy you might be standing. There are loads of ales to try and it gives a nice warm vibes with all the money hanging from the ceiling, we went on the evening and there was some amazing live music to fill the air. Watch your head if you’re over 6 foot because the ceiling beams are a bit low in spots. We grabbed a pizza while we were there to have something to eat while we drank and it was delicious, there were 3 different types to pizzas to choose from and it was about 8-10 slices total.
