Title: âWhere the Customer Is Never Right â According to the Ownerâ
Dining out is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, this restaurant seems to think customers are the enemy â especially the owner.
We had high hopes going in, but that quickly changed the moment we asked a simple question about the menu. The owner, who happened to be walking by, jumped into the conversation uninvited and responded with a sarcastic, condescending tone â as if we were wasting his time by wanting to understand what we were ordering.
Later, when we politely mentioned that one of the dishes was cold and not what we expected, the situation escalated fast. Instead of listening or offering to make it right, the owner came to our table and lectured us about how âpeople like usâ always complain. Yes â thatâs an actual quote. He went on a bizarre rant about âentitled customersâ and basically told us to take it or leave it.
We were stunned. Not only was the food subpar, but the way we were treated made the whole experience feel personal â like weâd done something wrong just by walking in. Other tables nearby looked equally uncomfortable. It seems like this isnât an isolated incident, but the way this place operates.
Itâs one thing for food to miss the mark. Itâs another for the owner of a business to go out of their way to belittle paying customers. I wonât be back â not because of one bad meal, but because no one deserves to be disrespected just...
Read moreThe reason I decided to give this restaurant 3 stars is entirely because of the customer service, and not related to the food.
The food is fabulous. We opted for the set meal for 4, and the starts, sides and kebabs were perfectly cooked, and delicious. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality of the food (around ÂŁ20 per head for a starter, main and drink).
I'll preface my comments on the customer service by acknowledging that I am a fussy customer, which is partly because I worked as a waiter for a few years when I was younger, meaning I have high standards.
When I called the book, the person at the end of the phone was moderately friendly and helpful, with a hint of "you're taking up my time when I could be doing something better".
The service at the restaurant was quite similar. Granted, we were served quickly, but there were very little warmth or friendliness. When we attempted to speak to the waiter at a couple of points, the responses were pretty muted and unenthusiastic. I just left with the feeling that the staff were preoccupied with spending time with regulars/people they know, and that other diners were a minor inconvenience.
I'm unsure as to whether I would eat here again. Like I say, the food is excellent, but the service is so underwhelming that it detracts...
Read moreI had been recommended Shandiz for some time so it was nice to finally go. Initial impression was great ambience and cool decor. We arrived at 9pm on a Sunday evening and ordered drinks initially. I ordered a glass of red wine but was brought white, waiter was very apologetic. While waiting for starters we could hear a loud FaceTime conversation coming from elsewhere in the restaurant, so loud that we could hear the whole conversation and couldnât hear the music. This went on for 10 mins further until I asked the waiter if the couple concerned could maybe refrain from such a public conversation that we were all being subjected to! In fairness the waiter was on it and dealt with it immediately but we both said that management should have dealt with it sooner and without being asked, as it was clearly annoying others. I ordered a second glass of red and again was given white! We asked for the bill and my card sat there for a good while before we had to ask for it to be processed. The foodâŠ.amazing. Just such a shame the service was a bit off. We will return for a second chance purely because we enjoyed the...
