Absolutely terrible customer service, called and placed an order for collection. Order was painfully hard to place but was read back and all okayed. As usual gave plenty of time as expected it to not be ready in the time said to collect as it's Saturday and expected to be busy, still had to wait in the cramped area by the till. Drove all the way home to find a dish missing. I phoned and was told i could have something free next order, absolutely no apologies or attempts to resolve the issue. I stated i wanted a refund if they was not prepared to bring us the food that was ordered. Afterwards, drove back to the restaurant to be told that the missing dish "wasnt even put through" and made out that it was all fine because we didnt get overcharged. Completely missing the point that they had incorrectly processed our order meaning that someone had to go without and rice etc was wasted. Completely ruined our meal and the food we did have was not even nice! AVOID! Used to be such a lovely restaurant with amazing food. All we had was poor service and mediocre food thats massively overpriced!! Wont be going back again, been a customer for years! Staff were all young and incompetent excluding the lady i spoke with in the restaurant who did not even apologise once even though we had a completely wasted journey, not to mention they could of reviewed the order on the phone and explained the error without having to make the journey back!! RATED ZERO FOR...
Read moreI ordered a chicken korma with egg rice, chicken tikka starter and onion bhajis. Also received free cucumber dip, prawn cracker and lettuce (which came in a plastic bag, not good as it arrived a bit limp and sweaty).
The chicken korma was lighter in colour than expected, but it smelled great. It was too mild, so it could have done with being slightly hotter. It had a few big chunks of chicken which was still pink inside (not raw but it could be described as being rare) so could have done with being cooked for a little longer. Couldn't taste flavour. Would have preferred double the amount of sauce as I'm the kind who likes lots of sauce, but this is just a personal preference. It arrived warm rather than hot.
The egg rice was done well, not hot enough though, it arrived just warm.
The chicken tikka was good, but be sure to put it straight onto a plate otherwise it'll be left sitting in oil. The chicken was done just right and it was lovely and tender.
Took one bite out of an onion bhaji and hated it because it tasted like it had been overcooked plus it was a bit on the greasy side. Chucked it in the bin.
Didn't bother with the lettuce and cucumber dip.
The order cost around £15 and arrived...
Read moreThere were 5 of us eating and all had ordered different dishes, all the sources looked exactly the same colour. I ordered chicken tikka which normally comes sizzling with onions (dry dish). The chicken was served on a white china plate, no sizzling, no onions and a bed of cold side salad on the same plate. The chicken was like eating a soft sponge and had no texture whatsoever and therefore I am not convinced it was actually chicken which is very disappointing. Having complained very politely I was not charged for the chicken tikka. The rest of the meal was fine and having tried one of the other chicken dishes on the table which looked and tasted like chicken with actual strands of meat visible, the correct taste and texture..I was even more convinced that the contents of my main course was made up of some form of substitute. Having had chicken tikka in numerous restaurants I was not happy with the staff at the Taj Mahal trying to convince me that the chicken was cooked in a different way and that was why it was soft. So just to repeat, the so called chicken was soft, large and light pieces (as in no weight), no visible strands of meat and looked and tasted like a sponge....Not...
