Came in on the 2nd for a quick cup of coffee near closing time. Got my latte given to me at 17:58, at 18:00 on the dot, a blonde waitress came and said 'we are closed now' and snatched my coffee from me and tried to walk away with it. Obviously shocked I asked for my coffee back (I had barely sipped the bloody thing) to which she responded 'we are closed'. I said no problem! I just need a takeaway cup please. She huffed and puffed and brought one over before asking us again to leave. Bare in mind this whole interaction was over before 18:03. Yes you close at 6 but honestly you can't be serving customers with such a bad attitude and you can't expect to finish at 6pm on the dot, closing up takes time so just be better at your job. I wouldn't want someone like that representing my company. It's a shame, we have visited several times over the last few years and never had an issue, but this one girl has lost repeat customers in me and my family,...

I've never had such a shockingly bad experience at a café. My partner tried to order a vegetarian sandwich and was presented with a bacon sandwich. We immediately pointed out the mistake to the man serving it but were told that we would need to pay again if we wanted something different. When I questioned this, saying I'd been next to my partner and heard their order, I was very abruptly shut down and told that it was our fault and that we had not been clear when ordering. It felt crazy and insulting. I have never been so disrespectfully treated in any establishment. Ultimately whatever the cause of the miscommunication I would not expect to be told unapologetically that the customer is wrong and needs to pay for the mistake.

I'd like to clarify that this was an interaction with a man who I believe was the manager himself, and the other staff appeared to be polite...

🌸 The Ritual That Starts My Day Right: I start every morning here — not out of habit, but out of genuine affection for what this team brings to the day. The staff are unfailingly delightful: warm, witty, and welcoming in a way that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a familiar part of their morning rhythm.

It’s not just a coffee shop. It’s somewhere you feel instantly at ease — whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or settling in for a quiet moment. The atmosphere is relaxed, the pastries are fresh and tasty, and there’s a natural charm to the way everything’s run.

They’ve struck that rare balance between polished service and personal charm, and the result is something far more nourishing than just caffeine. Big shout-out to the whole team for making this place somewhere genuinely special. You’ve made my mornings not only bearable,...

Enjoyed a delicious Biscoff Latte and Salted Beef & Chimichurri focaccia here. The latte was amazing, not too sweet but slightly spiced and very creamy; the focaccia was absolutely mouthwatering and extremely filling. I was so impressed I then grabbed a Miso & fudge cookie to go - don't let the weird mix of ingredients put you off, it was heavenly, soft and gooey in the middle but with enough crunch to give it some bite. Warm and friendly service perfectly situated in the North Laine area 🩷

The coffee and pastry were great but I couldnt hear what the cashier said because I have a hearing difficulty and masks make it difficult for me to read lips so stood in maybe the wrong place and then the barrista basically shoved the my coffee at me. I really don't like complaining but had heard good things about this place and was really disappointed by the unfriendly and dismissive staff and I'm a waitress so I know that people can have bad days.

Incredibly tempting window display of breads and pastries with even more delicious cakes inside. The brighton blackout cake was so good I couldn't even wait to get a photo! Coffee was flavourful and the perfect accompaniment for the light yet decadant chocolate fudge cake. Pecan & tahini cookie was airy and almost cakey, 10/10! Staff friendly, helpful and warm, too, which always adds to the experience.
