It's been my experience that when I find a really good restaurant/ cafe/ food truck, it almost always disappoints when I go back months/ years later. The food is never as nice, or the portions have shrunk, while the prices have gone up massively, which just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, regardless of how good the food tastes.
I was VERY happy to find that apart from painting their shop front green, and having their interior refitted, this place hasn't changed at all.
When we lived in Brighton, this was my wifes favourite lunch spot. Finding amazing food as a coeliac is like finding a politician with a soul. You've heard second-hand rumours that it exists, but have yet to see it yourself.
Everything looks and tastes healthy, but not in a cardboardy way. Fresh salads, their staple arancini, various roastsd vegetable deliciousness, honestly their chef/ chefs are top notch. It's all brilliant.

Read moreI’ve been coming to Iydea for 4-5 years now, and I’m yet to be let down! The coffee is delicious, better than some specialised coffee shops in Brighton (in my opinion). I can’t fault the food, either; perfectly seasoned and quite imaginative. I’ve tried so many foods from around the world that I’d have otherwise missed! The cooks here are the most consistent chefs I’ve seen in Brighton.
I’ve also been seeing the same front of house staff for years now, and I think it says something about how well they must treat their colleagues to keep more or less the same team in such a high-turnover occupation and city.
As for the atmosphere, I can’t fault that either! There’s a lovely, very Brighton style to the interior, I particularly like the beautifully executed seasonal window displays that I’ve drawn by hand. The tables are always clean, the floors are always swept, and the recesses always dusted. The people who work here care. Nothing is half-arsed!
It’s a Mecca for good veggie food and good coffee. I’ll keep coming for the...
Read moreThis restaurant was incredibly impressive in two main ways.
Firstly, the ethos and style. So much of the fast food available today is processed and poisonous, and reflects a sad wider trends of calorie high nutrient poor diets - not to mention all of the detrimental impacts associated with this. This restaurant provides one possible blueprint to a remedy to this direction. I think I read on the front that all of the ingredients are organic, and you really feel like these are essentially very high quality home-cooked meals. You receive all the wonderful nutritional benefits and it probably arrived in less time and with far less wasteful packaging (none) than a cheap greasy ultra-processed burger.
While being quick, well-priced and authentic, the food was incredibly pleasurable to eat. To pick one thing out, we had the roasted carrots, somehow cooked to perfection with a rich and authentic flavour, despite being cooked in batches and kept hot under a counter.
Very much enjoyed my experience here and would recommend...
