RUN don’t walk to the house restaurant.
A truly pleasant surprise after a long day. Let’s start with the team running The House Restaurant because they deserve their time: professional, knowledgeable, and just really nice, from the host to the waiters. When I said I didn’t want peas in my main course, I wasn’t met with immediate defensiveness but rather a “sure, let me make that note for you there may be some peas but I’ll leave a note.” This simple exchange made a big difference.
Now let’s get to the food. I ordered the House Seafood Bouillabaisse and had a taste of the risotto and the salt & pepper calamari.
The Seafood Bouillabaisse was a delight. The stock and sauce was so rich but not heavy, and packed with flavor. A PERFECTLY cooked fillet of fish sat on top of a small mountain of clams and squid. The potatoes were good but I would have preferred the delicious garlic bread had more space. Eating this dish was fun! Order this if you want something fresh, bright, but also comforting. Portion good for 1-2 but I comfortably ate the entire thing myself (maybe a third main course to share?)
The courgette risotto was excellent for those who want comforting and herby. I love that i was able to taste the courgette and that it didn’t get lost in the dish. My sister did say it was on the salty side. Portion good for two!
My husband loved his chicken supreme which he says was succulent and not dry as oven roasted chicken breast often is. This portion was good for one.
A thank you to The House Restaurant team who worked incredibly hard to serve their customers delicious meals in what I’m sure was one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Stay great.
P.S. their presentation is beautiful but we took pix after we started eating bevause of how great the food was!
P.S.S. We waited for 30-35 minutes for our food but honestly? Worth it. Some dishes are just worth...
Read moreWow what a restaurant, I’m surprised it wasn’t full. We came here because we were specifically looking for a beef wellington. And we were not disappointed. Thee beef wellington takes 30 mins to cook but it’s worth the wait, the portion size too is amazing. The house bouillabaisse was delicious , again massive portion size, with the most flavourful and unique garlic bread. It was almost like rye bread (but good rye bread!). The sea bass, once again massive! However all the taste was lovely and everything I wouldn’t order again. The amount of butter that it was swimming in was just a bit nauseating to eat, let alone difficult not to spill. It definitely did not require that amount of butter on my plate. You had to be there to see it but it was ridiculously lots to the point it was a joke. The surf n turf was perfect with the chunkiest of chips! I’m always a bit specific when choosing where to eat because I value interiors as much as food and the photos didn’t put much hope in me . But these photos are so inaccurate. The interior is divine. Hence the name, it’s set up in an old house and we were sat downstairs for reference not sure what upstairs was like. But a beautiful restaurant, felt authentic. The service was great, all the servers were so friendly . Kept us up to date on the wait for food. Even the young woman at the end took the time to speak to us about our trip to Brighton. You should...
Read moreIf you’re in Brighton and craving an unforgettable steak experience, The House is an absolute must. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfectly matching its excellent central location.
The star of the evening was undoubtedly the Beef Wellington fillet – cooked to perfection with a tender, melt-in-your-mouth center and a beautifully crisp pastry. Every bite was a delight. The house fries were a revelation in themselves: golden, crispy, and seasoned just right, paired with a signature sauce that was nothing short of addictive.
The quality of the meat was outstanding – fresh, tender, and full of flavor. You can tell this place takes pride in sourcing and preparing their dishes with care and precision.
Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall vibe made for a perfect evening out.
I can’t recommend The House enough – truly a gem in Brighton for anyone who appreciates top-tier steak and...
