Had heard all about these Yorkshire Pudding Wraps on social media and from friends so on a recent trip decided to try one. I had to wait 20-30 minutes In a queue of people so I thought we'll this clearly must be worth it. When I finally ordered my food from a member of staff who couldn't even say hello to me and mention anything about the wait time being a pain, she then proceeded to mumble through my order and thankfully she got it right but I didn't even know that until I received my receipt. Upon receiving my order, which was two pork yorkshire wraps and a side of roasties I found that the roast potatoes were lukewarm at best and the wrap itself was OK at best but to say I Paid £10 each for these wraps I was not very impressed with just OK, the pork was alright but there wasn't very much of it and the vegetables you could tell had been boiled from frozen and again there was hardly any in there and the pudding itself was probably the only part that tasted anything like it should have but for £10 I expected a lot more value for my money. Very disappointing to say I could have cooked a whole pork joint and the fresh vegetables, fresh toasties and a fresh pudding for myself, my partner and two children for less that I had paid. To top it off my partner is now complaining of stomach aches and been very poorly since having it so I'm questioning the safety of the way they prepare the food. Do yourself a favour and find a local pub and pay a little extra for a proper dinner because this isn't worth it, not for the price...
Read moreThe look and smell of this shop is like hearing the voices of the 'sirens' singing come to me. However A little like those Greek mythological creatures the allure is a little more than the reality. I didn't realise the wrap was a cold, flat Yorkshire pudding. It says it on the menu but trying to decide what you want with a queue building pressured me into buying a 'wrap' as opposed to a sandwich. But I was still happy with this until I had it. In the wrap you get turkey or pork or I think beef was an option too. Carrots, beans with stuffing and cranberry as options plus gravy. Wrapped then re- warmed in a grill. It's not that big, maybe 15cm, and doesn't hold together that well so not easy to eat. Taste wise, cold, soft Yorkshire pudding isn't great at the best of time, a little gravy which has no disernable flavour and veg that has the texture of cooked veg re-warmed in a microwave was not improved with the very small amount of shredded meat which failed to add any real value. Overall it was a tasteless stodge that was over priced and difficult to eat being very dry. At the cost charged it was extreamly poor value. I think it's a great idea and twist on 'street' food but doesn't compete with the burrito or kebab. But I think it could, just needs more work. Other options like a boxed meal might be better value or if you aren't particularly fussy it might suit. But for not much more you can sit down in a nearby pub and have a better meal altogether. If your in a rush though,...
Read moreThe food was lovely, I can't fault it at all, the staff also lovely, and I was so lucky to arrive when there was no queue so I was served instantly.
The reason behind the 3 stars (would be 5 if it wasn't for this)
I'm assuming the owner, came downstairs and told the staff behind the counter not to let anyone other than customers use the toilet (completely fair especially in a tourist trap area) but the way this was directed at the employees was rather abrupt, and rude and it was repeated multiple times infront of me waiting for my order. I'm sure they understood the first time.
As someone who's worked in hospitality for over 10 years, and has a few years as a duty manager under the belt, barking orders to your employees isn't how you should conduct yourself at all, but to do so infront of or in the vicinity of your customers (where they're able to hear) is absolutely inappropriate and I'm confident will have made the staff feel embarrassed.
I agree that paying customers only should have access, and if staff members haven't followed the rules absolutely they should be put straight, but never infront of other employees and especially not customers.
I do hope this is taken as advice, because it truly is, show the incredible staff you have some integrity and...
