Pews Bar and Courtyard — Restaurant in Guildford

I came here for my partners birthday, I went to the bar to order my last and second drink, however I was handed a drink with the incorrect mixer. I apologised to the bar maid and told her this wasn’t what I ordered and she was very rude, she told me this was definitely what I ordered and was quite aggressive towards me, I apologised again and told her I don’t drink the mixer provided and she was very rude and did not take no for an answer, she told me she wouldn’t have this conversation and I was rude in telling her it was wrong. I left feeling very offended and poorly treated, I work in hospitality and would never be rude about an incorrect order as I’ve made many myself. I visited on a wet, rainy evening and was drenched on arrival. It was so nice to be welcomed in by a friendly member of staff.

(There is a handdryer in the ladies room, which I used to dry my hair off!)

As a vape user, I was dreading going outside and getting rained on again, but discovered a large covered courtyard out the back.... covered being the big positive on this particular evening 🤭

However, the cover is removed during nice weather, apparently.

The courtyard was littered with heaters, thankfully. It is also much larger than the pub itself!

The only thing to be aware of is the vaping can only be done at the entrance to the covered outside area......

I'd definitely go back again.... Great staff, great location and...

They advertise food but I was told I would need to go nextdoor to Boring Burger and order it myself, then Boring Burger would deliver it to my table. There were QR codes on the tables for Boring Burger but I was told that they didn't work.

I did go to Boring Burger but, in the queue, I heard an employee say the wait time was 1 hour, so we didn't bother with food. My friend asked if we could have a takeaway delivered their establishment instead, but they declined.

Essentially, Pews don't actually do food.

They don't do tabs and they don't do VAT receipts either. Strange.

A limited outdoor area with no comfortable seats. Beverage was affordable. I suppose the sort of place a student would go for...
