Menu: you have to be a chef to understand what they are selling there. So, people like myself, not very aware of the grand cuisiné, have to eat simple things. Food: so myself and my son had a simple burger. Probably the french way. That means, again probably, home made from scratch. Very strange meat, definitely poor quality. A chef knows what I mean. I had, let's say, half of it. After that I started to dream of Burger King... But the real problem was with my wife who ordered a chicken smth. From the beginning she said it tastes funny. But she gave herself an explanation like "nous somme dans'un restaurant francaise!" (Excuse mon vocabulaire). After a halfway of trying to understand what is happening there ,she gave up. After we finished the meal a lady came to us, my wife said the chicken was strange, she called a guy - probably the team leader - who started to explain something like: we don't know what food means - fine foods! Left it like that. But when we arrived home, after about one hour and a half, my wife was sick. And she was like this most of the night. And I can assure you it was the only meal she had. No more about this... Well, no. Let's say something positive: the only good dish there was a beef bourguignon which, by the way, it's an easy to make, even straight forward cooking recipe. Staff: slightly brutal, forever in a hurry. Even my son and his girlfriend who often have a nice night in a restaurant had something to complain about. And they are kind hearted... They said they won't even think to come back there. Atmosphere: ??? I really don't understand what's so great there. Probably because it is near the water. But that's good only for staying outside on a wooden bench on a hot summertime night. Because inside there are small tables stuffed to maximize profits on square metres. From the entrance we were struck by a smell defined by myself as fish. My son was not that kind with that: he said it was toilet smell. Again, small tables for 4 customers, good only for drinking not for eating. Very poor light, from candles. The ceiling light beams were for the walls. Barely could read the menu: that unintelligible small written description of the course. No place for hanging the coat. I found a nail in the wall... Probably they are still in the summer... Would you like more? I could do but... We were very happy when we got out of there. Unfortunately, a totally failed evening. Inside. Outside is nice.

P.S. In the end they didn't charge us for that chicken. Is...

Terrible experience from lack of flavour food to the awful service from Josh the assistant Man... Aug 2024 My wife and I take a date night/ day each month as we have a hectic life with work and 7 year old little girl. Yesterday we wanted to travel up to leeds from Derby to enjoy a Virgin holiday gift voucher that, I bought for my wife for Xmas. The start of our experience and Brasserie Blanc Leeds, was as expected good. Helpful as my wife is Gluten and dairy intolerant. (Unfortunately not loads on the menu for choice, however ran through the options). THATS when our experience and day got RUINED! The waiter came across and asked how the meal was, I had mentioned that mine wasn't great (king prawns) however had eaten it as l was starving (I had been up since 3am and had a yogurt, whilst traveling). The prawns were over cooked and dry and the main was under seasoned.

The assistant manager Josh came over and asked also, I mentioned it to him and said I don't want to complain it's just my personal opinion and my wife's was like a watery broth that also lacked flavour. Response was excuses instead of trying to help. I had made a comment that Greggs would have more flavour. After 30 minutes no one came over to take our deserts order. Josh made every effort not to come over to us. Which we got up and left and gave Josh the voucher. As we were leaving a lady did come out to apologise and Josh stood at the door. l asked why he didn't come over and said I thought you had been served as the menus were not in the table, I mentioned you had been serving us this afternoon and knew I didn't enjoy my main meal. More excuses came out. God awful customer service! As we were walking away Josh made a flippant remark "enjoy your Greggs!" This is shameful and uncalled for! Appalling behaviour that I...

The service is ridiculously slow: half an hour to ask us what we wanted to order while half of the restaurant was empty and there were 4 waiters, although these things usually don't bother me if I'm enjoying myself, but then we were charged more than we should.

I had a voucher for 2 people. The manager told me I could swap something from the voucher menu for something of the main menu and she would just adjust the price (I would only need to pay the difference if there was any). I stuck to the voucher menu, but my partner swapped the starter for something around 2 pounds more and the main for the veggie option (same price). The dessert, he took from the voucher menu. Then he ordered a Sprite and a hot chocolate (less than 7 pounds). When the bill arrived, we were asked to pay over 22 pounds. I stared at the receipt, trying to find the mistake, but the waiter came and said "Sorry, that bill isn't right, I'm going to tell off my manager". Then he came and said "I'm sorry, the bill is right. If you don't stick to the menu, the computer charges you as à la carte". I explained how the bill was not right and he said "Yes, I know, but the computer..." so I said I wasn't going to pay that just because of his computer since we had not been told that. It was just 22 pounds, but it works both ways, they were not being honest and we had already paid for the voucher. Then he strook something off and came back with a receipt saying "This one's better". It was still 2 pounds over what we should have paid, but we just said thank you, paid and left. First time in years I don't leave a tip, but they can take it from the made-up bill. The 2 stars are for the chef as the food was awesome from the starter to...

This beautiful restaurant is in the middle of the city centre, and yet feels hidden away. It is down by the canal, just off Sovereign Street. It has a nice outdoor area (although a bit cold this time of year!) and the interior is full of exposed brickwork and dark wood. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and unhurried. It lends itself to long conversations over several courses. The noise level was perfect - giving a background ambiance but it was easy to hear my dining companion. The service was excellent. From being welcomed at the door to our waitperson, everyone was attentive, engaging and accommodating. They did forget one of our drinks, but apologised and made it immediately once we reminded them (and knocked it off the bill without us asking). The service couldn't have been much better. Unfortunately, the food let the experience down. As we waited, we have 'baguette and butter'. The baguette was cold, tough and a bit stale. The butter so hard it was essentially useless. Little flavour and none of that fresh, crusty yet light taste you expect from real French bread. Our main courses of 'Chicken and wild mushrooms' and 'steak' were 'okay'. The chicken was nothing special, the sauce was over-salted and the mushroom rather sparse. The steak was overcooked (request was for medium-rare and, with the exception of one corner, there was no pink to be seen. Overall, we were left feeling let down by very middle of the road food in what was a beautiful venue with excellent service. Not sure if it was a bad night, or not their regular chef so can't comment on if this is an ongoing issue.
