My daughter got married on Saturday and the grooms family came over from Peru (he's half Peruvian). Anyway, they organised a Sunday lunch for both families at Ma Boyle's. 26 in total - no problem! The roast dinner was one of the best I've ever had! The beef was so tender it fell apart as you touched it with your fork. Everyone I spoke to enjoyed their meal. Service was fantastic and the staff were so friendly too. A massive shout out to Rachel who was so happy, bubbly and friendly. She couldn't do enough for her customers. I was really impressed. Ma Boyle's is a hidden gem in Liverpool city centre. It's literally hidden down a little side street off Water Street, (just passed Hooters). Its a small, cozy pub restaurant with 2 levels. The only negatives from my point of view are; There is no wheelchair access. If you can't do stairs, it's not for you. The tap in the loo is stupid. You have to keep it pressed to use it so can't wash your hands properly. The door handle is missing on the inside of the toilet door. There is somewhere to open it but if you have weak wrists it'll be a challenge. Even with these faults, we'll definitely be going back! Highly recommended!!! (photo is of my family outside. Visited this gem tucked away off Water Street and nestled by the beautiful St. Nick’s church gardens to sample their legendary Scouse ~

We tried the following: 》Scouse Pie 》Sticky Toffee Pudding 》Apple and Peach Crumble

They offer 3 types of Scouse but we decided to go for the one with the Pie (traditional beef scouse topped with a flaky puff pastry lid served with seasonal veggies and chunky chips). Quite rich with chunks of meat and veggies on it complimented by a side of greens and chips - such a hearty bowl of goodness, so satisfied with it.

For desserts, we had the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Apple & Peach Crumble which were both equally scrumptious with just the right amount of sweetness to 'em. Washed our meal down with a refreshing "Perfect Storm" cocktail and beer.

Ma Boyle’s caters for breakfast brunchers, lunch catch ups and later get-togethers with delectable bistro food and a fab range of drinks & irresistible cocktails. It’s an intimate hideaway from the hustle and bustle of city life which features weekly jazz nights too.

The attentive and accomodating staff made our dining experience here...

We wanted a traditional scouse for our first time trying this traditional Liverpool dish. We had been referred to some other restaurants that were a bit far from our hotel, and due to our work schedule we needed something closer. A Google search found Ma Boyle’s nearby and we rushed over. Let us say that we are exceedingly happy with our choice! The scouse was beyond delicious, so flavorful, the meat just melted on the fork it was so well cooked. The chips were extraordinarily delicious. They’re a little darker than what we’ve ever seen, and wondered if they were over cooked. But that was absolutely not the case! They were absolute perfection. I don’t know what they do to make them a little darker color, but do not worry when they deliver to you that delicious plate full of food if the chips are dark. They are not overcooked - they are perfection and will melt in your mouth. I’m so happy we found this wonderful restaurant and we recommend it highly for both the food and the wonderful pub ambience as well as the wonderfully kind and welcoming...

Nice restaurant with excellent service - our waiter was really friendly and very efficient. However, the food didn't match the service. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were distinctly average. The tortillas were not particularly warm and there wasn't really enough of the chicken, peppers and onions to sufficiently fill the wraps; a lot of mouthfuls were mostly wrap. The presentation of the dish overall could have been better - the wraps looked like they'd been thrown onto the tray, there was spillage of the dips, and the salsa looked like a bowl of ketchup. Overall, it was quite underwhelming. One of my friends had the fish and chips and found it to be quite greasy. Another ordered the Scouse pie, which looked good and he said was very tasty. If I go back, I'd probably give that a try.
