The Anchor hosted our Wedding Reception last weekend and we couldn't have asked for more. Diana and Emma helped us right from the beginning, from choosing the room decoration to providing fully bespoke catering (I had plenty of requests not on the menu which they were happy to provide) and even helping book the add-ons such as the dancefloor, LOVE letters ice cream cart and photo booth, nothing was too much trouble. We even had Pimms on the Terrace arranged as our welcome drinks! On the day as the bride I had nothing to worry about, the whole team made sure the day ran smoothly. It was literally the hottest day of the year and it really felt like we were abroad, such a stunning venue, the guests loved it! The staff were bubbly and happy to help with anything we needed. The service at the bar was exceptional and the food the chef provided was unreal - the whole buffet for 80 was cleared out! Diane kept checking in with me to make sure I was happy with timings and how everything was going, real above and beyond stuff. I genuinely couldn't recommend the Anchor highly enough, we will be back for all of our events.

Amazing hidden gem. The amount of times I've been in this area and haven't noticed this place is crazy! Prices for beer are slightly cheaper than town prices, there's plenty of room to sit inside and out- we sat outside, as the weather was lovely. There's plenty of food to choice from. From salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers etc. We waited about 15mins for our food. Which I was surprised about considering it was just us there but atleast we knew it was bring freshly made! Perfect sun trap, looking onto the water away from the hassle and bussle! We'll definitely be going again. Steak frites with peppercorn sauce, ham & cheese panini and Ceaser salad (chicken on the side for the dog)

I attended a powerboat course next door and went into the anchor 2 days on the run for breakfast and lunch. The place has a fantastic interior. With lovely seaside vibe. Beautiful view of the docks. Food menu reasonably priced. I had a bacon toastie on the first day off the breakfast menu and the loaded nachos on the second day. The nachos portion was absolutely huge with fresh sour cream guacamole, cheese and salsa and spring onions 😋 The interior was decorated for Halloween and I was impressed with their efforts! 🎃🦇💀 Staff were incredibly friendly ❤️ Would definitely return again.

Before reviewing I had tried to send the below email to numerous email address and message on social media with no replies.

Hi,

I am writing regards to our Christmas Dinner that ended up ruining this year's Xmas.

When initially booked, I asked the lady what is the earliest time slot, she said it is 2pm and I told her as my daughters go home to their mums at 3pm Xmas, she informed me it is set up like a carvery that opens at 2pm we will be done.

When we arrive, I asked the barman is this still the case, he said yes and they will actually be calling us in at 1:30pm. He tells me how bad last year was managed and that it won't be the same this year as they are more organised. It wasn't promising to hear when I arrived that the last Xmas Dinner wasn't well organised.

When we go in, the place looks completely unorganised so we ask a lady working what time and she tells us food will be starting 2:15pm. 2:15pm comes and nothing seems to be happening so we ask a different lady who tells us 2:30pm.

3pm comes and no food has come, meaning one of my children had to go home with getting no food that we had paid for. My second daughter has been told I can have her til 4pm.

I only get to eat once every 2 years with my daughter, meaning I will have a 4 year wait between eating Xmas Dinner with my eldest.

It's now getting close to 4pm and nothing seems to be happening on our table, all this while staff behind the food are drinking pints of lager with not much care about the massive delay.

After we complain, a man comes over and tells us he will send us free drinks over, he also promises my niece a massive present when she leaves, no drinks came and no present for a child who was asking where it was.

When food finally did come, the portion sizes where strange to say the least, my 3 year old had double the food I had, and the food was very cold by then.

3 plates came over meaning we all ate at separate times. Same with desert, anyone who ordered cheesecake got that at separate times too as we was told the cheesecake hadn't been cut.

While this was happening we heard that the chef was off due to covid but other staff who had seen him where working and that's why the food was poor and behind, which also...

Liverpool - “The Yacht Club” was out of order.

When myself and 2 other deaf friends went there today. We were about to order the breakfast then the staff told us that breakfast had finished at 12, which I totally understand because it was 12:10pm.

The staff told us that the lunch menu was starting. We were looking at the menu when the boss came and told her that no food for 15 minutes. We then saw the boss carrying breakfasts to other customers after 12:15. I double checked again with different staff at the bar about what had happened with the food. She told me the same thing about waiting ‘15 minutes’, so I sat down again. 35 minutes later still no-one came back to see if we were ready to order. I checked again and the staff told me food was not available plus no drinks either, (effectively refusing to serve us), but told to use the next room, where a wedding party was in progress (wedding party room), to order drinks. Telling me to effectively gatecrash a wedding party. I just went back to my friends and explained what happened. I saw other people at the same bar I just used ordering drinks at this bar. The bar I was just told I could not be served at. Also, just five minutes later that we saw staff carrying food to customers. And other staff carrying sandwiches & chips from the lunchtime menu to the customers.

We only ordered ONE drink. We wanted to order food but was not allowed and also not allowed to order more drinks. We had been in there for 1 hour and treated very very badly.

We decided leave and went to a different location where I can say we were treated with respect in a friendly environment.

I can inform the readers of this review that we were polite and courteous and did not warrant the way we were treated. We did not create any fuss as we just wanted to have a nice meal in a nice environment.

We did have a nice meal with drinks in a friendly environment but this was NOT in the Yacht Club

There was no respect given to us and no-one had any deaf awareness. We will never go there again ever. We were treated very badly by all staff we approached...

DISABLED PARKING WARNING = £100 per Hour!! ('SMART PARKING' - Feel free to google this company's reputation on TrustPilot or elsewhere) Our 91 year old uncle (Disabled BUT still fit enough to drive at 91!) went for a quiet afternoon drink at the YACHT CLUB with a friend & stayed for just one hour. He understandably thought that by correctly displaying his Blue Badge, he could park without charge. WRONG!! The 'delightful' company (SMART PARKING) that have been employed to 'manage' the YACHT CLUB'S parking, slapped him with a £60 'fine'!! Which they have now increased to £100!!!! (Yes, ONE HUNDRED Pounds per hour!!) because we tried to appeal on his behalf, explaining re the Blue Badge, his age, etc. The appeal was very, very bluntly fobbed off, with no explanation or niceties, other than 'Pay up or else' & we will refer you to Debt Collection / Bailiffs, etc. We genuinely appreciate parking needs to be managed BUT there is ZERO common sense or willingness to use any discretion, whatsoever. A direct question to the management of the YACHT CLUB; Do you really want to be associated with a company like 'Smart Parking' with their reputation? Are you willing to discuss (privately of course) any form of discretion / compromise for a disabled 91 year old...
