Customers pretty much always know what they get with a Wetherspoons pub. Great value food and drink, with efficient service in a great location. My friend was over from Dubai and he couldn't believe a double Tanquerey and tonic was £5.86 (neither could I, as I rarely check prices!) Probably seating 200 people on the ground floor, it is nearly always full, day or night, most days of the week. Located directly opposite James St train station, it is a great starting or finishing place for those coming from the Wirral line or from North Wales. A short walk across The Strand (road) to the Albert Dock or less than 5 minutes to Liverpool One shopping centre, it is well located for the main attractions in Liverpool.

Amazing pub that we went in whilst visiting the area for the Liverpool FC trophy parade. Cheap drinks, friendly staff and of course amazing atmosphere with all the LFC fans singing and enjoying! 5*😃

Who doesn't love a Weatherspoons!! This is a busy one but had plenty of seating and a huge range on the menu. Alot of groups are visiting on a day out but the food and staff are just as fantastic if not better than other Weatherspoons! ( maybe I'm being biased as I'm a scouser! ) they went above and beyond amd no question was to big to ask. I had steak egg and chips and a drink for breakfast 1130am along with a drink for £11. Was delicious and filling amd certainly set you up for the day. The building is another with history and by looking on the walls you can see the importance of the building. Highly recommend and I will be back. Fantastic service and fantastic friendly staff.

We had visited a few times during our time in Liverpool and found the place and staff fantastic. This was until a few nights ago when we were served drinks at 11.45 (totalling around £30), a few minutes later we were told to drink up as the place was closing . Obviously we were quite peeved about this and said so to a staff member (expressing the fact that we wouldn't even have time to finish our drinks). This guy was understanding and everything was fine until another member of staff decided to bully his way in without asking any questions. He ordered us to drink up and get out and was very nasty, making comments on his way. He actually lifted the drinks away. When I asked what the problem was he became very aggressive. My husband came to my defense and he actually pushed my husband. We were in shock and this turned into an altercation of words. No offensive language was used at any time but his manner was disgraceful. He said he was management (I doubt this was true as he obviously wasn't management material). I asked why he had started such an aggressive attitude to us and he said that someone made a rude comment to him. This was a lie and when I asked who or what the comment was he said he didn't hear it. It was a total fabrication. My brother asked if it was a camera around his neck (we were hoping it was in working order), he sarcastically replied "no its a washing machine". We proceeded to make our way out and his aggressive behaviour continued. My brother advised that we were tourists in Liverpool and asked if this was how liked to portray his city. This obviously annoyed him. We told him we would refer this to a manager, but no doubt it will not be reflected on. So a big shout out to Shane ( I think his was his name but he refused to confirm when I asked again)..tall dark haired guy. He is obviously a bully who likes to undermine other staff members. He treated us as if we were drunkards (we were actually a group of 4 people aged 60+ who had just returned from a show in Manchester and wanted to have a nightcap close to our hotel). What a disappointing end to a great trip...

Came in here for a celebratory brekkie after my exams and an interview I had. Very nice, standard spoons. Bar maid misheard what I said and ended up giving me 4 pieces of black pudding (instead of 2), I'm not complaining about that though in the slightest. I've come in here within a few days of opening so my review may not reflect what this Spoons will look like in say 6 months time but it is really clean. Felt quite clean. The staff were going round and adjusting chairs even if you had left your seat for 2 minutes. The coffee machine here was better than other Spoons (however, as I alluded to before, it is very new). So breakfast wise- can't really fault it. Then I moved on to try the alcohol. Pint of Stella at 3.85, absolutely incredible pint, effervescent and really nice by Spoons standards, in a proper Stella glass, worth the 3.85. Tried some of the ale, I will say I was impressed at the array of local beers, they had Ruddles and Doom bar (I believe they had Abbot but I didn't properly see), but nearly all the beers they had were local. The main brewery was Peerless, with at least 5 of their beers on, the other breweries were Higson's and Big Bog. I plonked for a half of Higson's Pale (I was tempted by the stronger brews but I restrained myself at 11 in the morning), was in decent nick and not a bad beer overall to say it was 3.8 percent or so. Onto the Staff- seemed quite friendly, the serving staff were quite smiley and the bar staff seemed receptive to having a bit of a laugh (I was only served by the Irish girl, name started with M but she was nice). Overall- very nice place, not a large spoons, the roof top terrace is almost as big as the actual bar and accompanying room but it has a nice ambiance with the lighting and the theme of trying to recreate what a ship might be like, conclude- get a bevvie down...

Absolutely disgusting service. Ordered food and drinks through the app. After half an hour waiting, I enquired where they were, to be told it's very busy and there's a slight delay. Ok I accepted this. So I ordered a couple of more drinks through the app, as our first lot were coming with the food apparently with it being so busy. 15 minutes later still no drinks. I went to the bar to speak to someone in charge. I explained the situation, by this time it had been nearly an hour waiting for our first order. He told me the food had been delivered to our table but we wasn't there. I laughed and told him I hadn't moved from the table as there is nowhere else to sit. He also told me the drinks were delivered straight away. At this point a young girl came over and asked what number were sitting at, she said the drinks were under the counter and some more drinks have just been delivered to our table. I went back upto the terrace and guess what , no drinks at the table. Someone did eventually come with some drinks. the table we were sitting at had been moved but no one had put it in the planning system. Ok an easy mistake to make. Well the food comes out, It's cold the rice was lumpy, So it's been re heated. So after waiting for about an hour and half we got an apology and re heated food.and they couldn't get that right. It's a pity really because all the other reviews are good and we are staying at the hotel across the road so it would have been our local until we go home. And here I am writing an aweful one. So all in all money down the drain, came away hungry , they didn't even notice we were leaving.very poor...
