After seeing we had a new Indian Restaurant in Liverpool just opened on Friday we thought we would try it out.
Table for two and got sat not far from the window, the decor in here looks lovely but we could smell a strong smell of damp and the room was so cold.
Our server (Omi) came to take our drinks order after waiting 10 minutes, we asked for a bottle of still water but before we could order a bottle of wine she had gone. Water arrived so I ordered a bottle of wine and two glasses (table for 2). Then the waiter asked my partner what drink he would like, we were confused.
We got popadoms for starters and they looked like the was shop bought and not made fresh in the kitchen.
Starters - we ordered chilli mushrooms and dragon chicken. Not very warm and salad didn’t look fresh. Chicken was dry and mushrooms was soggy.
We had finished our starters and waited for someone to come over but we waited around 20 mins with our dirty plates sitting in front of us. Our waiter came over and said your mains are ready. I said ok thank you, waiter- do you want them now. Yes but can we have our table cleared please from our starters. Waiter said yes and walked away. 30 minutes later we moved the dirty plates to the table next to us and had to ask waiter where’s our mains. Male waiter do you want you popadoms with your mains. Again confused as we had already ate them.
Mains - we ordered Lamb jalfrezi with garlic rice and chapattis to share. chapattis was dark in colour and very dry, curry wasn’t to bad but not the best I have had. Lamb was dry and it didn’t really look like a jalfrezi.
The place was empty so I don’t know why the service was so poor. We were in there for 2 hours we just wanted to leave. All staff didn’t have a clue what they was doing but seemed to be running around.
They didn’t even have a cooler for our wine, the server didn’t have pads to write our order down it was just like a circus in there.
Would I go back NO, would I recommend NO.
Please don’t be fooled by the reviews that have been posted 6 days ago by the managers friends as this place only opened on Friday (3 Days ago).
Liverpool has some amazing Indian Restaurants out there and this is definitely not one of them. Don’t waist your money and go...
Read moreWow what a experience. I had a night stop over in Liverpool on business and fancied a Indian. After a quick check on maps I found The grand with 60 really good reviews at 4.9 out of 5 it was a must try.
However when I arrived on Thursday evening i realised that this was there very first opening night and I was 1 of the first customers.
I inquired on how if it was there 1st day how did thay get so meny amazing reviews the chap showing me to my seat just looked at me blankly. It was pretty obvious, when I look back at the reviews that the majority of them are just fake.
The place it's self was nicely decorated and obviously there's been some money invested, though where I was sat by the window it did smelt very strongly of damp plaster and paint but I'm sure in a week or so it will be fine.
It's also very brightly lit..
I got the idea very quickly that nobody seemed to know what was going on. The place was virtually empty, lots of staff standing around yet it seemed really difficult just to get somebody's attention.
I ordered a beer some poppadom a mushroom started dish followed by a special lamb biryani.
For some strange reason, everything came at once, when I mentioned that I wanted the dish is one after another not all together instead of apologising he just ask, what do you want me to do about it, I can keep the main warm for you! Which was nice!
The food was poor. The poppadoms where nice but the chilli mushrooms was just so salty like i couldn't eat it. The biryani drab and was nothing like the picture on the website and menu just rice with lamb curry in the middle with more rice on top.
Definitely, not the fine dining experience they talk about in the reviews and website.
I understand that places can take a little bit of time to get themselves sorted but i felt like they had got me there with false reviews, gave me lousy food but most of all a disappointing attitude.
I only ate 15% and decided to leave.
When I mentioned that I was disappointed with the whole experience to one of the owners they just shrugged their shoulders and gave me a £45 bill.
I won't be going back and I definitely wouldn't...
