3 Mien — Restaurant in London

The food was decent, but the service was incredibly disappointing. Our server seemed far more interested in her phone than in doing her job. Despite telling her I was ready to order, she was so absorbed in her screen that she didn’t hear me — or any other guests, for that matter. Eventually, I had to walk to the front desk just to place my order.

When I finally spoke to her, she was rude and dismissive. To top it off, I never received any water, and when I mentioned it, she claimed I hadn’t asked for it.

Now here’s the funny part — the place wasn’t even busy. I suppose I’m not a customer? Were the other two tables also invisible? I called her several times, but since she was glued to her phone, it’s no surprise she couldn’t hear guests asking for service.

Frankly, it’s astonishing. Since when do guests have to remind staff to do their job? This wasn’t forgetfulness — it was pure carelessness. If you’re old enough to be employed, you’re old enough to act...

We got a Deliveroo tonight. We have eaten here in the past and thought it was terrific. They do the best pho broth of all of the Vietnamese places near us. We ordered quite simply, We shared a pho with rare beef, some papaya salad and a starter of honey chicken wings. The pho was very good but arrived with most of the broth spilled and wasted. Not sure if this was the fault of packaging or our Deliveroo driver. Beef was tender. Garnishes were a wedge of lime, and a scant quantity of bean sprouts and mint. No little tubs of hoisin or sriracha so you need to have that in the pantry if you are going to order a delivery. The starter of wings were good. Roasted rather than fried and a nice sauce that was sweet but not cloying. The papaya salad was a disappointment. There were plenty of prawns but the nuoc cham dressing was used too sparingly. It was a lovely day but so cold at night, I was still shivering at the restaurant and this really kind staff put a heating just for me!! He had a wonderful smile I cannot forget. The other young guy who took our order was also very smiley. The summer rolls were yum, sometimes coriander just overpowers but it was a right amount. Squid was also good, but garlic was half raw. The pho was so good - this would be my top 2 pho in London. Soup was so clear and it’s packed with so many layers of flavours. It was very rich and I could tell the effort this place put in the broth. I got mixed meat (both raw and cooked). I’ve never had this tender cooked meat in my pho before.
