A Memorable Italian Culinary Journey at Amerigo Vespucci in Canary Wharf
During a long-awaited reunion with a dear friend in the heart of Canary Wharf, we decided to indulge in a delightful Italian lunch. After careful consideration, we chose Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian restaurant that captivated us with its warm hospitality and authentic flavors. From the moment we stepped in, the staff's welcoming nature and the incredible taste of their pasta made our experience truly exceptional. Here's a review of our memorable visit to Amerigo Vespucci.
Warm Hospitality and Authentic Ambience: We were greeted with genuine warmth and charm by the restaurant staff upon arrival. One particular staff member caught our attention with his delightful Italian accent, setting the stage for an authentic Italian dining experience. The overall ambience of Amerigo Vespucci was cozy and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for a pleasant meal and conversation.
Assistance with the Menu: As someone unfamiliar with Italian cuisine beyond pasta, I candidly expressed my confusion to our server. The staff member was incredibly helpful, patiently guiding us through the menu and suggesting dishes. Their knowledge and willingness to assist made us feel comfortable and allowed us to make informed choices.
Exquisite Pasta Delights: We opted for classic pasta dishes, with me choosing penne pasta with chicken and veggies, while my friend selected the tantalizing tortelloni al funghi selvatici. When our food arrived, the presentation was enticing, and the aromas were irresistible. As I savored my arrabbiata pasta, I was instantly transported to pasta heaven. The flavors were robust, the ingredients were fresh, and it was undoubtedly one of the best pasta dishes I had enjoyed in years. My friend's tortelloni al funghi selvatici was equally exceptional, receiving high praise for its rich and earthy flavors.
Delectable Dessert and Perfect Location: To conclude our memorable meal, we decided to share a dessert—a delectable panna cotta with a delightful strawberry flavor. The dessert was a sweet ending to our Italian culinary journey at Amerigo Vespucci. Furthermore, the restaurant's ideal location, within walking distance from Canary Wharf station, made it easily accessible and a convenient choice for those in the area.
Overall Impression and Recommendation: Our visit to Amerigo Vespucci left an indelible mark on our taste buds and hearts. The combination of warm hospitality, authentic flavors, and inviting ambience made it a truly remarkable dining experience. The staff's assistance with the menu and their genuine passion for Italian cuisine further enhanced our appreciation. We highly recommend Amerigo Vespucci to anyone seeking an authentic Italian culinary adventure in Canary Wharf.

The staff are always lovely despite the fact they are always so busy there! If you want to be in and out fast come at 6pm. Ivan and Jack always make us feel so welcome and they run the place. They sometimes give out limoncello at the end which is always a nice touch :) The prices of the food are also very reasonable especially for London.
As for the food. We havent tasted everything yet but what we've had is nice, some things are better than others. For starters we always get calamari and the crostini's or a pasta.. For mains we recommend the seabass, the lamb, the gnocchi (it is quite citrus), the pesto pasta, and one pasta I cant remember I believe was a meat based tortelloni (very yummy.) The only pasta I would avoid is the tortellini but I say that everywhere as tortellini is always underwhelming. For dessert ALWAYS tiramisu but we also enjoyed the eton mess. For cocktails the amaretto sour is gorgeous, the margarita is extra strong.
OLD REVIEW: My partner and I have been here maybe 6 times and its a gem of a place, we have grown to recognise the staff and they are always so kind. The food is great and reasonably priced, some days its better than others but its never not good. I recommend getting the focaccia bread for table, the bruschetta or calamari to start and pesto pasta or gnocchi for main. We are yet to try the meat options as we call Amerigo our pasta place. Always a...
Read moreAfter 10 years of coming here celebrating big milestone birthdays I'm actually really disappointed to be leaving this review, but feel i need to highlight some points. We have always received a very personal service with lovely little touches aside from the lovely food, but not tonight. We booked for a table of 10 and immediately noted there wasn't the usual welcome olives or Breadsticks on the table. Quite a few items on the menu have jumped up by £4-£5 since last visit in November and the prices are somewhat higher on the Restaurant Menu compared to the menu on website. After ordering we were informed that 3 out of our 5 steak orders had to choose alternative to sirloin as none left-when we were booked in at 6pm when they open. Thus adding more to the bill as only other option was fillet or T bone. The Calamari was a noteably smaller portion, very tough and again seemed to have jumped up in price. Our bill was just shy of £700 and wasn't even offered the usual complimary Lemincello after our meal. We have been coming here for years for the quality of the food, value for money and service we receive and although the service never disappoints, everything else just doesn't feel the same which was very...
