⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Archway, Battersea – A Hidden Gem with Unforgettable Flavors!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Archway in Battersea, and it was an experience that truly exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was instantly captivated by the restaurant’s warm ambiance and stylish decor, perfectly blending contemporary elegance with a cozy, welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home while also treating you to something special.
The menu at Archway is a delightful exploration of flavors, showcasing a perfect balance between creativity and comfort. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, reflecting a commitment to quality and freshness that shines through in every bite. I started with the flatbread topped with squacquerone, sage, and guanciale—a light, fluffy, and dreamy dish perfectly paired with a beautifully seasoned chard beetroot salad.
The pasta course is not to be missed. We shared two small plates between two people, and both were exceptional. The rabbit ragu was unlike any I’ve ever tasted—soft, tender, and delicious, enveloped in a light tarragon sauce that was simply divine. Equally impressive was the Cardinali all Nerano, with delicate pasta pillows coated in a buttery sauce that was both indulgent and refined. Stunning.
For the main course, we opted for the slow-cooked lamb neck fillet with roast potatoes. This dish was a melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece, rich with deep, satisfying flavors, and complemented by a delicate blend of spices and a pepper & olive tapenade that elevated the dish to new heights.
What truly sets Archway apart, however, is their exceptional attention to detail and impeccable service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food and wine they were serving. They took the time to offer thoughtful recommendations and guide us through the menu, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable.
The dessert menu is not to be overlooked, with the tiramisu standing out as a must-try. It was decadent and rich, with a perfect balance of flavors—a flawless ending to an outstanding meal.
Archway is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. Whether you’re seeking a romantic evening, a celebration with friends, or simply a place to indulge in some of Battersea’s finest cuisine, Archway delivers on every level. I can’t recommend this place highly enough and am already looking forward to my next visit!
P.S. If you have the chance, opt for the chef’s table—it's a fantastic spot!
Apologies for the terrible photos of the half eaten tiramisu but it was so good we forgot to take any decent photos!
Thanks to the Archway...
Read moreThe staff at Archway are fantastic - the best service I've experienced recently by a long shot. The kiwi lady who greeted us has only been working there for a short while yet had a good knowledge of the menu and didn't seem new at all - impressive. The young man was attentive and very pleasant to deal with except when he sang happy birthday which got progressively louder and louder - especially when Sammy came and joined in! I was completely mortified in the best way! Thank you all - you're a great team.
Food wise, the menu changes every month with what seems to be seasonal produce complementing fundamentals i.e. small plates of buratta, flatbread, garganzola and smaller mains of risotto, pappardelle etc and large mains of seabass and other meats accompanied by whatever is in season. Each dish we had was impressive and satisfying, the only fault I could find was that there simply wasn't enough of the bottoni nor the tiramisu in the portions given. You're probably not going for the potatoes but the side of patate al forno was great - executed and seasoned perfectly in my opinion as a self professed potato connoisseur.
In terms of atmosphere, the acoustics don't lend well to quiet conversation, so I'd recommend going earlier in the evening if that's the vibe of your meal. We also specifically requested a table to the side as I was pre-warned by a friend that it gets noisy. It's a great atmosphere and truly one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in the last...
Read moreWe came here for dinner a few weeks ago. It was a bit of a disappointment for me, however my friends got different meals and really enjoyed their mains.
The entrees were really yummy and fresh, felt like they had good seasonal options using what was in season now. I got a green pasta (they described it as a kale cream sauce with pecorino) it actually just tasted like nothing, it was also approx £25. It literally tasted like plain pasta and grass. I told the waiter that it lacked flavour as I had left most of my meal and they took it away but didn’t offer anything to make up for it, to be fair we didn’t ask for them to discount or anything but I feel like they should at least ask more about why the dish was not enjoyable.
My friends got a steak dish and a venison dish which they said was really good - so maybe it’s better for meat eaters?
The service was nice but it was a bit strange at the beginning as you walk in through a side entry (I think to stop wind coming inside) and then they asked us to just stand in the corner of the room for 5 minutes which felt uncomfortable given the small space. We also felt like there was long waits for service with some staff standing around.
The dessert (we got the bomboloni) it felt stale and lacked taste.
The cocktails were ok, not amazing. Glasses too big for the type of drinks.
We do want to go back and try again so maybe will update this post, but all in all not the best, it felt like it was supposed to be better if that...
