I had dinner with my friend here tonight and I have experienced some of their terrible and customer service.

The two of us arrived at 6 and no one greeted us at the door and when we walked pass the bar and trying to get into the dinning area a young manager looking guy who has a rather strong accent stopped us and asked if we have a reservation. The room wad pretty much empty with "reserved" signs on a few tables. The guy looked reluctant to seat us so I asked him do you have a lot of reservation tonight and he said yes. I told him we will be quick as we will have to leave before 7 anyway. He said the only available table is the one naked small table right next to the kitchen window while there were only 4 occupied tables and there were two people sitting on a big table with long sofa. It was one of the two most unpleasant tables this place can offer and so we asked if we can sit in a inner place as it was cold by the door. So he just waved at a waitress and said to her "bring them to that table 27" and we then realised it was the other terrible olaceto sit - right next to the toilet door. He was so rude that he did not even talked to us in our face for our direction but ordered someone to do it and walked away with his annoyed face. Right after I took off my jacket I saw the same waitress just seated two ladies on a table for 4 at the centre area so I went to ask her if these customers have reserved these table. She told me no, they were walk in customers. I asked her the name of her manager and she told me there are three of them and she did not know which one I was referring to. I mean common, please do not play dumb on me. I told her I need to fire a complaint now, who should I talk to then one of her colleagues came away and asked me what happened and I asked him why did they put my friend and I next to the toilet when you have so many available tables and why did your manager ly to me about the availability. He then seated us at a bigger table at a more pleasant location in the room so I dropped it and start to order. I went to their website 10 minutes before I arrived to look at their vegetarian menu because I am on a diet. It was again disappointing that they have changed their menu without updating the one on their website. So I could not find the vegetarian burger I wanted I have to order their beetroot burger. The beetroot falafel was in room temperatureq, quite dry and crumbly inside and the edge was tough and hard instead of being crispy outside and fluffy inside. The bread was soaggy because of the watery tomato slides. They have only seated two more tables till the time we have paid and left. And the three manager-looking person were seating at one table and were doing their discussion and paper work. Which did not look very busy to me. I do not know if any of their bad customer service was out of racism but Barbican Centre may want to replace them with better caterers for...

This restaurant has served me one of the tastier and most tender Shirloin steaks I can remember having; Absolutely delicious! The chips were ok and I was pleased with the overall main. I ordered Burrata as a starter and that was served with beans which I thought would be an unlikely combination but actually worked well. I chose the pistachio cheesecake for desert and that unfortunately was a bit of a disappointment. The pastry was sturdy and I still don't understand where exactly was the cheese in that desert because I just could not taste it. The cake was accompanied by some sort of berry sorbet which unfortunately also didn't do much for the dish. Despite this I would still consider a higher rating because the atmosphere was so nice, the views into the fountain patio were perfect and I was lucky to go on a sunny day with not many crowds around either. The waitresses wjo looked after us had a pleasant manner and we didn't have to wait much for our orders. Nonetheless the overall service was disappointing; I was given a glass with lipstick on it so clearly it hadn't been washed. That really put me off because I had already started drinking from it when I realised what state it was in. The final bill was also very convoluted. We ordered one burrata starter two Sherloin steaks mains with chips and a coca cola drink. However the items were not described clearly but rather than embarking on a dispute of what exactly and how much each item in the bill costed we paid the £110 asked (not including the water and the desert which were given as compliment due to the dirty glass) which to me seemed to be about £20 over what was stated...

I booked the private dining space for 9 guests for senior professionals from Chicago Booth Business School, University of Chicago on 29 May.This was booked months before, and I worked closely with Rue to ensure this evening was a success. She played very close attention to detail and was quick to respond to queries and concerns I had on the lead up to the dinner. Upon arrival, I was pleased to find that all staff at reception knew where to signpost guests, and that the food preferences were printed on name place cards which could be clearly be displayed on the dinner table. Rue was brilliant to work with and she helped to make the whole planning of this dinner stress free. I commend her professionalism and going the extra mile to ensure the evening felt special. Prosecco was served to guests on arrival by staff, special mention to Raisa, for taking such good care of our guests on the evening, and ensuring their glasses were always full. She was polite and professional and was careful not to disrupt the flow of the evening with conversations going.Really delighted with the value for money with the meal and the stellar venue. It was great to have additional privacy and create our own space closed off from the rest of the restaurant.I highly recommend this venue and hope to book again in future! 5*Thank you again for making this...

Been visiting Barbican centre over many years but never really sat down for a proper meal. The restaurant had a nice vibe, staff seemed great and knows their wines. With it being evening, the church looked picturesque across the way. I think for London city, the set menu prices were reasonable. For starters I choose the scallops, they were delicious and well complemented. I loved the touch of fresh seaweed, the smell taking you to the ocean. Mains I went for the Pappardelle pasta, braised venison, pecorino cheese, toasted hazelnuts - super tender and sauce was delicious. Being a cheese fiend I wouldn’t have minded a little more pecorino (just not sure if it would have been frowned upon), nevertheless was still tasty. Tried bit of the pork loin, lovely and tender, with a delicious sauce and various vegetables to complement it. Though I’m still not a fan of the type of ‘popcorn’ style crackling people make, I much prefer the mixture of the traditional crunch and melt in mouth textures. I’m happy to return on my future visits.

Chicken burger arrived almost still breathing. Center of the burger was completely raw. When mentioned to the waiter, I was stared at blankly, and had to request a replacement, to which the response was a nod of the head, and away he went. Replacement was the wrong item (Ordered spicy chicken burger, replacement was plain chicken burger) and the kitchen had clearly overcooked the burger and the bun, whether to play it overly safe or to be passive aggressive, I do not know, but the bun had the texture of an Oasis flower brick and the chicken had roughly -12% moisture left in it. After rushing to finish our food so we didn't miss the gig we were attending (We missed the support act due to the time taken for food to come, both times) I spoke with the manager on duty who waived the entirety of the bill. I attempted to contact the restaurant online to make them aware of the incident, however received absolutely no response back. Clearly giving their customers salmonella isn't something they care about.
