Oh my God!! This was a revelation and a half! We had been to the Chanel exhibition at the V&A and missed lunch, so at 17.30 went to the cafe at the museum where you could get a single scone for 6£ & not much else. Just returned from France and we'd had our daily fill of patisserie & vinnoiserie. We were on our way to 'The Mousetrap' next & my hubby suggested 'grabbing a selection of bites' from China town. I was sceptical, but we walked in there & the fragrance could rival a French patisserie! So we got a whole lot of stuff (garlic bun, red bean pumpkin bun, peanut cake, mochi, pork bun)which all came in generous sizes and it only cost £10!?!? Then we sat outside on the benches and I was amazed at how soft and fluffy and delicious everything was! Also the queue looks long but moves very fast and there are 3tills which don't let the grass grow under their feet. There were tourists from America and india and it was jam packed but the atmosphere was happy and festive, ike some Christmas market! Everything was so scrumptious we got some more stuff to take home (a back pack full of goodies for £15) and we have been snacking on them all weekend! 15 seconds in the microwave gives them their original fluff. I can't wait to go again &...

Read moreAs a dessert lover, I couldn’t resist trying the custard buns and chiffon cakes in Central London China Town—and they didn’t disappoint!
The custard buns were incredibly soft and fluffy, with a creamy filling that wasn’t overly sweet, making them absolutely perfect. Just make sure to peel off the outer layer of the custard bun before enjoying the creamy goodness inside!
The chiffon cake was light, spongy, and melted in my mouth with every bite. Both were vegetarian-friendly, which is a huge plus!
The best part? Everything was super affordable—I got these delicious treats for under £10. However, I was disappointed when I asked for tissues and was told they didn’t have any. It’s a basic necessity that every bakery should have, and it was surprising to hear otherwise.
Overall, the flavors and textures were incredible, and it’s a must-try spot, especially if you prefer desserts that aren’t overly sweet!
