We were a little disappointed to be honest. We're from Bournemouth and travelled up especially as I had purchased a brunch for 2 including drinks for £45 from Buyagift. The voucher very much indicated that it could be used at the soho branch, which was ideal for us as we were later seeing a show nearby. My partners a big fan of Brewdog, so whilst in waterloo we decided to visit the Waterloo branch as well and grab a drink. The staff were really polite, the place was clean and the atmosphere was the upbeat welcoming brewdog vibe we're so used to back home. The soho branch however, was virtually empty when we arrived and was so dark and dimly lit.. it felt dirty and just generally unwelcoming. No table service, the one member of staff just blankly looked at us. When we looked at the menu, we were a little surprised to see that there were no brunch options? Confused, we raised the question about the voucher with the staff to which even the manager was confused by as he explained they dont do a brunch menu? I explained it was £45 worth and that we had travelled there especially, to which the manager replied "unlucky.." - they couldn't have just let us order food and take the £45 off the bill? The only reason why I've rated this 2 stars to be honest, is because I appreciate this isnt the staffs fault. The manager did offer us 2 free drinks to apologise as well. Obviously someone's made an error here.. but it was really inconvenient all round as we then had to find an alternative for food (we didn't want to eat in soho brewdog just because of how icky it felt, blessing in disguise actually) it wasn't even about the money either, we ended up going to the Hard Rock Cafe where we had a delicious meal and cocktails costing just over £100.. but the atmosphere and whole experience was so much better than what we were offered at Soho Brewdog. Such a shame, but we look forward to visiting the Bournemouth branch again soon where we can hopefully use...
Read moreI was very excited when Brew Dog opened just down the road from my workplace and enjoyed the craft beers and the excellent service from the bar staff. However, after Friday night I'm not sure I will go in there again. The doors were manned by two discriminatory bouncers who refused to let in one of my group on the grounds that he was drunk, we had all had one beer with our meal beforehand, they had no problem with letting in the white women of our party. After getting a call from my friend who was outside I tried to reason with the bouncers, once I explained that there was no way my friend could be drunk they went to let him in. I commented to my friend 'I don't know on what grounds they decided (he) couldn't come in' which one of the bouncers picked up on and totally exploded at me shouting that I ought to have respect for him. We finished our beers and got out of there. Great beers Brew Dog but get rid of the professional bullies on the door, the experience left a bitter taste...
Read moreThis large, industrial style bar just off Oxford Street gets extremely busy at the weekend. The staff are friendly and competent. Huge range of their own craft beers as well as a small but good selection of gins. Unfortunately with the busyness, the noise levels rise to unbearable levels, with all sound bouncing off the industrial concrete and steel interior. Inaudible music adds to the volume, which becomes uncomfortable at peak times. No respite can be found in the toilets, which are equipped with Dyson hand dryers and music! (Although the music is great). The food was also disappointing, with the corn on the cob unexceptional and lacking in flavour and the generously proportioned vegetarian chicken burger was bland and without adequate mayonnaise. Whilst it's great to see veggie and vegan options, they need to put more work in to the flavours, especially when it comes to over £10. I would recommend the Full Nelson in...
