Unfortunately this was an experience that went from bad to worse. The food was fine, nothing to write home about.

However we had to ask 3 separate times for some water for the table, the beer was also missed from the round of drinks we ordered until we asked for it.

Food came out missing one meal - chef apparently said this meal would take an extra 5 mins (on top of the 5 mins we already waited for someone to come over and communicate that with us). We asked for the other two meals to be taken away until everything was ready at the same time, waitress then sighed and tutted at us as though we were being an inconvenience. When the food finally came out the original two meals were cold, so clearly had just been left on the side.

No one came to do a check back with us so there was no chance to let them know that the food was not good.

When we got the bill we expressed our disappointment. The manager/supervisor tried to tell us that we only had to wait the 'small 5 mins' extra for the missing meal - which was definitely not the case we must have waited for an extra 15 mins for the food to come back out to us. The manager/supervisor had a very dismissive and combative tone with us telling us there 'was no need to get angry' with her. She asked us to explain what else was wrong with our experience but kept interrupting as though we were in the wrong. We asked that the service be taken away as the service was so poor.

When we were talking amongst ourselves, shocked that the tone from the manager the original waitress walked by and told us that 'it was hot and everyone's struggling' - this was just completely unnecessary and made us angrier as she was dismissing our experience.

Safe to say this was our second bad experience here and we won't be coming back. Two of us at the table have worked/do work in the service industry and felt that the tone of the staff ruined our experience which would have just been bad but got worse with the comments and the sighs!

Also we did not hear the word sorry from anyone. It would have...

I had forgotten to post a review that encompassed my thoughts of events that had occurred during last New Year's Eve (2023). I'll still post this now as consideration for any other people that might be planning to come here for this (2024) year's one.

Honestly speaking this was an absolutely appalling experience in terms of service which soured the celebrations of the night. Previous to arriving on the night, I had called multiple times, weeks in advance to check if we would be allowed to stay slightly longer (30 minutes) than the set table time given to allow us to pad time so that we may watch the fireworks display and was multiple times CONFIRMED that to be the case over the phone.

On the night we arrived, it was then said to NOT be the case despite being promised so over the phone. That alone wouldn't end up being an issue but we also ended up waiting for our food & drinks for over an hour! We were fending off hunger with the bread they gave us initially and eventually decided to buy some champagne, which arrived before our actual food & drinks we had previously ordered! When the food did eventually arrive, it was pretty bland in flavour by comparison to other restaurants I had went to, so I didn't personally enjoy it in comparison. The atmosphere was loud but to be expected.

The waiter then had the audacity and tone to act as if we were being too slow with our meal & drinks, despite them serving it to us so insanely late and they were rushing us to finish our meal & drinks then pay so they can clear the table! It didn't feel like me nor my friends were welcome in this establishment as customers and I've never felt so embarrassed, frustrated and insulted during the event, as the person who planned to have our night here.

After this experience, I would highly recommend avoiding this particular restaurant and I would like to caution anyone else who does have plans to have any meals here during busy event timings like this New Year's Eve or any other major public holidays...

The restaurant is beautiful and has a great riverside view. Most of the staff seemed friendly and professional, but our overall experience didn’t match the setting or the price.

When we arrived, we were seated at a table away from the river. We asked if we could move to a river-view seat, and the server kindly moved us to a 2-person table closer to the water but it was right beside a very loud family. Because of the noise, we asked if we could instead sit at a nearby 3-person table that was still free. The server told us it was only for groups of 3, so we had to stay next to the noisy family. (Keep in mind, the 3 people table is right beside us)

Not long after, we saw a couple (just two people) being seated at that exact 3-person table even though we had just been told it wasn’t allowed. And as I’m writing this review, another couple has now been seated at the same 3-person. Even though there is 2-person tables free. So this has happened twice during our visit. It honestly made us feel treated unfairly, maybe because of how we look or seem. It didn’t feel good.

We ordered a bottle of wine. At first the service was nice, we were shown the bottle and poured the first glass, but then no one came back to refill or ask how things were going, even after our glasses had been empty for a while. While tables around us were asked if their food was okay, we weren’t.

The fish was good, but the fries tasted just like oil, no real flavor. For the price we paid, the service simply didn’t live up to the standard.

One last note: you don’t have to pay the service charge if you’re not happy with how you were treated. We still did, because the other staff who weren’t serving us directly were polite and seemed to do a good job. (The server we had was dressed in all black)

All in all, beautiful restaurant, but sadly not an experience we’d recommend or repeat....

Over the years, I’ve had many delightful meals at various Côte restaurants around London. While the quality has ranged from average to excellent, I generally find them to offer good value for money. However, my recent visit was an exception. The location of this particular Côte was fantastic—right by the river with stunning views. On an early Saturday morning, I decided to sit outside and enjoy the sunny weather. Unfortunately, the experience quickly soured. Despite arriving at 9:05 (just after their 9:00 opening time), there was no one to greet us at the outdoor tables. After waiting for five minutes, I took a photo of the menu board since I hadn’t been given one. To my disappointment, the promised shakshuka was missing from the menu, even though a sign indicated they served breakfast. I settled for the Smashed Avocado with an added egg (£11.95, plus £2 for the poached eggs). The description—grilled cherry tomatoes on the vine, served on seeded sourdough toast, topped with chili flakes and a mixed micro salad—had my mouth watering after my morning jog along the river. Inside, I placed my order since there was no waiting service. Eventually, the staff arrived, serving us sparkling water with smiles. Despite the initial lack of attention, I tried to remain optimistic. The disappointment hit when the food arrived. The "toasted seeded sourdough" lacked seeds, sourdough, and proper toasting. I ended up transferring a sorry portion of avocado (dubious texture too) from one slice to another, as the bread wasn’t savoury. The eggs were passable, as were the tomatoes and micro salad. What made it worse was that during our walk back, we discovered a more elevated competitor offering the same dish at the same price—only theirs was beautifully executed. It left me wondering why my experience fell short at Côte.

Came by for dinner and was very pleased by the service of their service staff! The lady manning the queue was very friendly, ushered us to a table on the outside for a drink while we waited for a table to be available as we didn’t make a reservation. Got a bottle of wine to share there as we enjoyed the view of the HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge in the full moon 🌕 🦆 duck confit was a decent dish, the orange slices was a good touch to cleanse the palate 👍🏻 🥘 the stew was a wrong order actually, as we didn’t take the mussels, but still went with it as we were contemplating between this and another anyways - and it turned out good since was a seafood broth with good umami. Scallops were a little salty if you have it without the sauce, while the crab Maison was a great cold dish to be had 👍🏻 The manager also offered us a free dessert as she keyed the wrong order, and was a decent giant macaron although we were too full to finish it. Great overall experience and definitely one to enjoy with the views!

Outrageous! Last Minute Terrace Takeover Ticket Cancellation & 'Complimentary' Deception I am absolutely furious. My free ticket for the Terrace Takeover on the Thames on August 1st was cancelled at the last minute, with the event organizers offering a 'complimentary' drink as compensation. This is completely unacceptable! The term 'complimentary' implies a free drink, but the reality is that the drink was only 'free' with a purchase. This is misleading and frankly, insulting. Canceling a ticket at the last minute is already frustrating, but trying to appease customers with a false offer of a free drink is simply adding insult to injury. This experience has left me feeling completely ripped off and disrespected. I will be looking for alternative options for my evening and will definitely be avoiding any future events organized by this company. I urge anyone considering attending a Terrace Takeover event to be aware of this company's questionable practices and to proceed with caution.
