Tower Gateway might not be the flashiest station in London, but it gets the job done. It’s part of the DLR (Docklands Light Railway), and if you’re heading toward the Tower of London or St Katharine Docks, it’s super handy. The station’s small and elevated, with separate platforms for getting on and off—which actually makes things feel less chaotic during busy hours.
It’s not as well-connected as Bank or Tower Hill, so if you’re trying to zip across London, you might need to switch lines. But for local trips or scenic rides through the Docklands, it’s a solid pick. The views from the train as you glide past the Thames aren’t bad either.
The station itself is clean, easy to navigate, and usually not too crowded. It’s kind of like that reliable friend who doesn’t make a big fuss but always shows up when you need them.
If you’re exploring the historic side of London or just want a quieter route into the city, Tower Gateway’s worth knowing about. Not a showstopper—but definitely a useful piece...

There's also a side exit that not many people use. On the western side, there is a dome structure. You can get to it using an escalator, stairs or a lift. There is also a gift shop and a large glass window in the shape of a semi-circle sun. The station has changed a bit over time, but it still has some interesting features. Both lifts have a separate doorway for entry and exit, but the doorways are narrow, which may pose difficulties for wheelchair users and passengers with buggies. On a positive note, the floor of all DLR trains is the same height as...

To get here from the tube go to tower Hill. Trains every 8mins in peak and every 15 not in the peak. The original glass architectural design is great from the inside and out. The one way system on the platforms is good for crowd control (but seeing as it has trains only to beckton and is hard to get that is not often an issue). No barriers here make it easy to...
