Dear Patrick, stop making stuff up, I was there, we had to wait a very long time for you to finish your payment and it wasn’t the first time you did that, no one was being racist to you, but you were frustrating costumers who had to go back to work that were waiting to get their lunch, you’re just looking for excuses to make yourself innocent. Editing your comment and accusing them of sticking up for their staff doesn’t suit you well.
By far the best lasagna and Cottage pie in the UK I’ve ever had, they’re usually very busy place, I love going to this place for their hot food. Their sandwiches, baps and ciabattas are often made on the spot, their hot food is freshly made everyday, I love their Jacket Potatoes and Chicken pesto pasta, great chef, the manager is also sometimes the chef there, he’s a better chef then the actual chef, but good job to the actual chef. For those who are complaining what do you expect? Of course they will get eggs ready usually 5 minutes earlier because it can get ridiculously busy there, nothing wrong with it, the rent there is expensive so the prices of the food are justified, it’s LONDON, wait CENTRAL LONDON, considering the rent there, the prices are very reasonable and very good, it’s fresh food, their hot food portions are massive even a small is big, if you convert it to a large flat plate you’ll see for yourself, you’re allowed to microwave fresh cooked food as long as it’s not microwaved more then once. They don’t cook food in the microwave, that’s a lie, I know because I was given access downstairs, they just warm it up for you a bit, you can ask them not to and you can warm it up...
Read moreWhenever I hear the phrase "well oiled machine" I don't think of Formula 1 pitstops or the efficient hailing of a cab via Uber. No, my thoughts immediately turn to Cafe Verona.
I've never seen anything quite like the mayhem I see on "Cottage Pie Thursdays" but calm as a Spring morning on Rutland Water, it causes the boss no issues whatsoever. Like machine gun pellets flying at him from all angles, he takes order after order after order, simultaneously portioning out and rapid-fire cooking in the microwave. It is fascinating to watch and if I didn't have a job I could quite happily sit there all lunchtime, in awe of his majesty.
Now on to the food, and this is where Cafe Verona really takes the biscuit. The lasagna is utterly spectacular and whilst I hope she never reads this, I have to concede it is better than my mothers. The weight gain from eating a daily lasagna is absolutely worth it for the beefy, tomatoey, bechamel infused joy you get in return. The sandwiches come highly recommended too, the tuna/sweetcorn baguette and the chicken escalope with salad and mayo being particular favourites of mine. Then once you have got to grips with those offerings, treat yourself to a Cottage Pie on world famous "Cottage Pie Thursdays".
Then please feel free to join us regulars who every day laugh and joke as we bump into each other again and again, singing "Why cook yourself, when theres cafe...
Read moreDecided to leave these guys a review as I have been eating here for the past 4 years. The food is really tasty, it's honestly a place for takeaway, they do have a few tables to sit but rental space in central London is expensive so why not take your lunch outside if the weather permits? Most people ordering here are people who come frequently so they know what they want. If you want to think about your order just step aside and let the next person in line order. Everyone is in a rush at lunch time and the queue goes outside sometimes. Anyone accusing the people working there of being racist have no idea what they're talking about or what's their background. I know the guy serving so well, it was probably misunderstood banter. I always joke with him. Would 100% recommend if you're in the Liverpool St - Moorgate area and I'm so happy they survived the pandemic (not a lot of caffes did in...
