What I order at dim sum in London 🥟 I’m British Chinese and this is what I’m ordering for Sunday dim sum. This week, I’m at Chuan in Chinatown London - it’s part of Royal China and this branch specialises in Sichuan home cooking alongside their signature selection of dim sum. Unless clearly stated (at the start of my caption and in the video), I’m a paying customer without input from any of the partners - just sharing what I order and more insight into the dishes for anyone who’s interested :) WHAT I ORDERED: - 鳳爪排骨飯 spicy chicken feet and spare ribs rice pot £7.80 - 筍尖蝦餃 prawn dumplings £6.20 - 鮮蝦韭菜餃 prawn and chive dumplings £6.20 - 鮮蝦腸粉 prawn cheung fun £7.60 - 黑椒牛仔骨 veal ribs in black pepper sauce £6.80 If you’re looking for a guide on how to order dim sum, what to order for dim sum and the best dim sum restaurants in London - welcome to my new series showing you everything I order when I’m eating dim sum in London (and around the world). Dim sum menus are often extensive with a LOT of options from steamed dumplings, deep fried dumplings, noodles, claypots, congee, cold plates to everything in between. It’s one of my all-time favourite past times and a huge part of my beloved Cantonese cuisine. Chances are, if we’re friends IRL - we’ve been so I’m now extending this to my online friends here to help you navigate the menu and the best restaurants in London :) #england #dimsum #chinesefood #chinese #british #cantonese #cantonesefood #chinatownlondon #chinatown #dumplings #dimsumlover #dimsumsunday #cantonesecuisine #londonfood #londonrestaurants #eseaeats #britishchinese #chinesecuisine #londondimsum #dimsumlondon #dimsumtime #londonchinatown #asian #britishbornchinese #yumcha #royalchina

Dim sum lunch in Chinatown London, one of my favourite Chinese restaurants for dumplings! Chuan on Gerrard Street is part of the Royal China Group and they have restaurant branches all across London from Baker Street, Canary Wharf to now, Chinatown! Chuan specialise in Sichuan fusioned Cantonese food so you’ll find these inspirations reflected on their menus. As with all Royal China places, the dim sum is consistently good and the dumplings fresh, plump and full of flavour. I particularly love the prawns here. They also have an evening menu of bigger main dishes to be shared between two or as a group! Prices are higher compared to the other surrounding restaurants as it positions itself as a higher-end option but it justifies it with its quality, surroundings and the food. Food ordered: - Po-erh Tea £5.60 for two - Prawn dumplings £6.20 - Siu mai minced pork £6.20 - Black gold soup dumplings £6.80 - Beef cheung fun £6.80 - Chicken feet spare ribs rice pot £7.80 - Fried squid paste cake £6.20 #dimsum #chinatownlondon #londonfood #cantonesefood #dumplings #pov #minivlog #cantonesecuisine #londonrestaurants #royalchina #minivlogseries #povreels #soupdumplings #cheungfun #rice #noodles #sichuanfood #londonchinatown

Amazing experience at Chuan Yang Lou, right next to UCL! This restaurant combines Sichuan and Huaiyang cuisines, and every dish we had was delicious. Highly recommend! • Yangzhou Seaweed & Tofu Threads: Light and refreshing, with delicate tofu threads that soaked up the rich, savory broth. Perfect for starting the meal. • Dongpo Pork: Melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors. Rich but not greasy, and pairs wonderfully with rice. • Shanghai Smoked Fish: Crispy on the outside, tender and smoky inside. The fish was flavorful and had a nice balance of sweet and savory. • Mouthwatering Chicken: A Sichuan classic! Tender chicken with a spicy, tangy sauce that wasn’t too overwhelming but packed a punch. Addictive! • Steamed Sea Bass with Chopped Chili: The fish was fresh and delicate, and the chopped chili added a nice kick without overpowering the natural sweetness of the sea bass. Overall: Great combination of Sichuan and Huaiyang flavors. The food was authentic and delicious, with a nice balance of spicy, savory, and fresh tastes. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a flavorful and well-rounded Chinese dining experience!

Terrible food experience. Nothing more to say. Feel like I was robbed. Thankfully my child could quickly have KFC next door. In reply to the owner. The ribs were lumps of fat. The chicken dumplings were tasteless, certainly no there was little or no chicken in this and the chicken fried rice simply was not good. I am always worried when the food is served so quickly to the table (5-7 mins) and this would explain why none of the food tasted fresh. When you pay almost 50 pounds for this plus one beer and water, this is why I say I felt robbed. To the owner, I did not review to be nasty, I did it so you hopefully you will...

A cute new Chinese restaurant in the West End close to British Museum and Holborn tube. There is a very authentic seeming menu for more adventurous eaters and a western menu for those who want to stick with what they know. I had the western menu because I really couldn't figure out what I should eat on the other menu and I was alone with limited time. The food was very good. The spring rolls were especially delicious. Prices are reasonable and portions ample. I'd like to try the authentic menu next time with some guidance. I imagine it must be good as I was the only western person in the restaurant and every dish I saw...
