Amazing experience at Chuan Yang Lou, right next to UCL! This restaurant combines Sichuan and Huaiyang cuisines, and every dish we had was delicious. Highly recommend!
• Yangzhou Seaweed & Tofu Threads: Light and refreshing, with delicate tofu threads that soaked up the rich, savory broth. Perfect for starting the meal. • Dongpo Pork: Melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors. Rich but not greasy, and pairs wonderfully with rice. • Shanghai Smoked Fish: Crispy on the outside, tender and smoky inside. The fish was flavorful and had a nice balance of sweet and savory. • Mouthwatering Chicken: A Sichuan classic! Tender chicken with a spicy, tangy sauce that wasn’t too overwhelming but packed a punch. Addictive! • Steamed Sea Bass with Chopped Chili: The fish was fresh and delicate, and the chopped chili added a nice kick without overpowering the natural sweetness of the sea bass.
Overall: Great combination of Sichuan and Huaiyang flavors. The food was authentic and delicious, with a nice balance of spicy, savory, and fresh tastes. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a flavorful and well-rounded Chinese...
Read moreTerrible food experience. Nothing more to say. Feel like I was robbed. Thankfully my child could quickly have KFC next door. In reply to the owner. The ribs were lumps of fat. The chicken dumplings were tasteless, certainly no there was little or no chicken in this and the chicken fried rice simply was not good. I am always worried when the food is served so quickly to the table (5-7 mins) and this would explain why none of the food tasted fresh. When you pay almost 50 pounds for this plus one beer and water, this is why I say I felt robbed. To the owner, I did not review to be nasty, I did it so you hopefully you will...
Read moreA cute new Chinese restaurant in the West End close to British Museum and Holborn tube. There is a very authentic seeming menu for more adventurous eaters and a western menu for those who want to stick with what they know. I had the western menu because I really couldn't figure out what I should eat on the other menu and I was alone with limited time. The food was very good. The spring rolls were especially delicious. Prices are reasonable and portions ample. I'd like to try the authentic menu next time with some guidance. I imagine it must be good as I was the only western person in the restaurant and every dish I saw...
