SUMMARY A gem in Canary Wharf that deserves more attention - especially if you are tired of all the big brands moving in everywhere. If they can make slightly better cappuccinos (or other coffee based drinks) then this is solid 5/5. They support VISA credit and debit as well as AMEX for payment. They also have a generous stamp/customer retention programme in partnership with Embargo. Get the app and ask them for a stamp (you get one per coffee ordered).
SERVICE The staff are friendly, and smiling. If only all coffee places have such excellent staff. The only downside is that I think they need to improve their coffee drinks (excluding espresso) as they are just okay. With okay I mean they are around the cafe Nero level but definitely much better than Costa and Pret.
DRINKS I would recommend sticking to the espresso for drinks but then again if you do not like the taste of coffee it might be better to order one of their teas instead. Their current beans are slightly acidic however the taste is very rewarding 2-3 seconds after the initial taste giving a very nutty and wholesome taste. Note that they might rotate beans so I can only speak as of today (December 4th 2022).
FOOD I tried the Japanese egg brunch item. If you like eggs, and especially the kind that can soak the (slightly too hard) bread then this is a great light starter to your day. Feedback to RWC: perhaps make your own bread or keep it warm to prevent it from being too hard. I love hard bread however I know many who cannot chew if it is hard like this.
AMBIENCE It is a good space however a bit too loud to work from as the sound travels everywhere. The space is split between a downstairs area with tables and chairs as well as the kitchen and menu counter and an upstairs area thatās accessible with staircase. If RWC can find a way to isolate the noise level then that would be ideal (especially for upstairs if the idea is that people can do a bit of work or reading). Note that the wifi is excellent and good enough for the usual video calls.
VALUE The price level is competitive and the location is good (I suggest to advertise close to Tian Tian market as there is a lot of people walking in and out). If you can afford to sit at the usual big chains then this place offers a similar price level with better staff training, better espresso and reliable wifi (works like your normal home based wifi - no strange āsign upā forms...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBad Service from the short Asian guy working there. Went to dine in on a weekday, late at night. Clearly wasn't very busy but this waiter put us at the corner of the restaurant, we asked if we could sit at one of the other 2 bigger tables that was free. He replied in very condescending and rude manner saying no you can't sit there.
We assumed maybe there is a booking for the 2 bigger tables but keep in mind this was very late at night and we highly doubt anybody else was going to dine in for the rest of the night.
Unfortunately, the tables were completely free throughout our stay when we finished and paid for the meal. We can understand leaving the tables for bigger groups however given that it's very late at night we hoped he would be more flexible nevermind the rude attitude of this waiter, very disappointed.
Also note the service and comments from this waiter was very condescending the whole night, quite uncomfortable to be around. He was not attentive at all and mostly stayed at the counter near the door. Had no issue with the other female waitress that was working, she was actually very nice.
Reply I was most definitely at your restaurant. I can assure you there was a male front of house waiter working there that day.
By bigger table I am in fact talking about the 4 people one which emphasises the point, would this really have been a hassle for two people to be sat there? We planned on ordering multiple dishes and wanted a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got the bossam around lunchtime but honestly it was just mid and a little weird. They provide ssam/lettuce wrap set with the bossam but no banchan or even kimchi which I think feels bad considering the bossam was 28 pounds, incredibly steep IMO. Also, the bossam itself was really wet? It was served like.. kind of soupy which was super strange since its usually not served to you sitting in its own stewed fat š¤ I know its pork belly but it was waaay too wet and unapetizing. Also for 28 quid you think they would wash the lettuce but no!!! Dirt on about half of the leaves like please š„¹š„¹š„¹ Paying almost 30 pounds for dirty lettuce is crazy
To be honest I wanted to order something else but I think I went through like 3 different choices only to be told they were unavailable before having to settle for the bossam lol. Like, no kimbap even though it's half the menu was also super strange. I came in around 30 minutes before their lunchtime closed which I guess might have affected their selection but their kimbap menu is too large for it to seem like that was it so .. I dunno.
I wanted to check it out since this is the only place I've seen in London so far that has bossam on the menu but it was pretty mid and very expensive (the bossam plus a lemonade was 36 quid which is deranged to me). Like most Korean food in central London, kind of disappointing :') The wait staff was very kind though which I think was the...
