This was a horrible experience only made slightly better by how apologetic the staff seemed to be. But after reading the comments it may seem that they have had a lot of practise apologising.

We ordered oysters to start.

The oyster were not fresh. They were dried and shrivelled and looked like they had been dead a while. I didn't want to eat them and asked for them to be taken away. I was offered another portion but declined. The manager then came over to tell me - that if i haven't eaten oysters before that is what they look like. LOL. After this remark I decided that I wanted to leave and cancel the entire reservation. At this point he then offered another plate of oysters on the house. I explained that if they were paid for or free I would not be eating spoiled food.

It got a little awkward because we really wanted to leave and he kept offering us free items which we did not want.

Other points - lack of ventilation, the restaurant was overwhelmingly smokey, it was not located in Canary Wharf about a 15/20 min walk from the main estate situated beside the bin store for a block of flats.

I warned my friend to never trust an instagram ad for...

First time visiting the shell in canary wharf. Went on a Friday evening and booked but was actually surprised at how quiet it was. There were a few people inside but loads of room even if we did not book. Maybe in a quiet location and hidden behind buildings. The restaurant was clean and pleasant was seated in a booth and comfy.

Servers were polite and friendly. Got our drinks very quick. Lovely cocktails and a big drink list so loafs of options. Big menu with loads of options. My partner ordered oysters why I went with the shrimp cocktail. Would have been good if both came together but my partner got his oysters and we had to ask the waitress for mine which did come soon after. Both lovely. For mains i went with the steak while he went with a snow crab platter for one. Both tasted great. Good quality food and seafood.

Staff always on hand to help and get anything if needed but at times they were to attentive by coming over every few minutes asking if everything was OK and can get to much when your trying to enjoy your meal. Otherwise we enjoyed the experience and would...

This was our first visit to The Shell, and we were blown away by the exceptional dining experience we had. We decided to try their Monday deal, which included one lobster, chips, salad, and a glass of wine for an incredible price of just £24.90.

Let me start by saying that the lobster was simply outstanding! It was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a true delight for our taste buds. The quality of the seafood at The Shell is one of the best in town.

Not only was the food exceptional, but the service provided by the staff was top-notch. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and displayed a high level of professionalism. It's evident that the team at The Shell takes great pride in providing an outstanding dining experience to their guests.

We cannot wait to visit The Shell again in the near future. The combination of exceptional seafood, friendly staff, and a cozy ambiance makes this place a must-visit for any seafood lover. Thank you, The Shell, for an unforgettable evening. Keep up the excellent work!

We went there before Xmas for a family dinner. Food was delicious and good value. Service was excellent and they reserved a free car park space for us in front of the restaurant as well which was great! Our server Angel was excellent. We had the £40 Christmas meal, which included soup, lobster and tiramisu. The lobster was on the smaller size (minus 1 star for this) but we ordered grilled squid (recommended by them) and mussels as starters so we were very full. Both starters were highly recommended. They were fresh and portion size were generous too! Oysters were delicious. Even their fries were good, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Yummy. Oh forgot to say, steak was a but chewy, so many not have steaks at a seafood restaurant! It's not our first visit and will definitely go back there again. Check out their daily special menu before you go. They are very good value. We also went to their Holborn branch before but we preferred the Canary wharf one, the sitting felt more comfortable.

I never leave bad reviews but this was HORRIBLE and want others to save their money. I had high hopes, was really looking forward to a good seafood meal. We ordered a starter that was the crab dressing---- straight up tasted worse than cat food, and spit it out. Then came the hot seafood platter--- Lobster Gratin, mussels, prawns and scallops. Looked absolutely beautiful and was willing to give it all a second chance----- wrong choice. Freezer burnt would have been a significant upgrade from what we tried. All of the seafood had this very strange, gross musty taste... I don't know it it was rotten or what but it was awful. We tried what we could, paid and went around the corner to eat at Goodmans. We told staff that the food was bad (politely) and there was no offer of reducing the bill since we hardly ate anything. They weren't rude just not good customer service-- should have told them to try and eat it and see what they thought. The bill was 150 sterling--- not worth it whatsoever. Save your money.
