Popped here one Saturday evening with some friends. It was busy as expected, but the friendly and accommodating waitress found a table for the 3 of us. I wasn't feeling a starter, so just the main course...I went for the sausages and crushed potatoes...but ordered it as mash by mistake, the waitress asked me if I'd prefer mash instead, to which I said "yes". I believe the menú online is now with mash as they may have updated it. Anyway, I got 3 decent sized leek and herb sausages, the mash, some cabbage, gravy, and a piece of cracking. Not a bad meal, but it all lacked flavour to me...bland sausages, bland gravy, the mash and cabbage was okay and the cracking a nice addition...but that's it. This is a British classic that didn't quite hit the spot for me, and at £16 it was a bit overpriced for bangers and mash. Service was professional and not overbearing. It's worth a visit if you want some pub grub and a beer in the garden.

My multiculturally blended extended chosen family and I had a wonderful lunch today, food was great, vibes were immaculate and the bill was reasonable. Tilly and the gang served us amicably and made us feel like part of the Duke’s Head family during our short but memorable time together. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend a visit to any national or international pub goers. P.S. it hailed whilst we ate but the sturdy rafters of this renovated 16th century public house protected us with the strength and stability of a veteran plow horse.

Travelled for work, stayed for 2 nights, and I loved it here, the bed was very big and comfy and I was given the extra pillows that I asked for. Also, the food was amazing in the pub downstairs, the trout was top class, and the pecan pie was out of this world! And the full Duke's breakfast was spot on the following morning. Also, the staff are really friendly, super super friendly. Really recommended!

Hit and miss!!! Lovely pub, lovely garden, lovely venue.

However often a tale of two half's, food can be good and also been a let down at times especially inconsistent with portion control on starters and you wouldn't call it cheap so underwhelming most of the time for the price point.

Staff are very friendly and definitely a big asset to the venue however often very disorderly trying to get served at times, getting over looked or waiting because it seems there's more important things to be doing.

Drinks wise over £7.00 a pint is just crazy especially when they always seem to struggle to serve you a cold pint which blows my mind in this day and age. Also just an fyi really need to give some bar training on how to serve a pint of guinness, really struggle to not ask for a top up 90% of the time with such a large head.

Hate having to give negative reviews but don't think I'm being unfair in my criticisms. I'll definitely frequent again as like I previously stated it has a great vibe and atmosphere which the staff and management do well to create, just very pricey and need to work on a few things at their price point, especially with other pubs in the area seemingly...

Mothers day today. 1 was vegetarian but website showed no different menu for today but in fact there was, with no Al la carte so Halumi salad was not on and vegetarian options very, very poor. If you're gonna have a special menu then put it on your Web site, so people know. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted water 'yes please' but we had to chase it after 20min of waiting. When 1st ordering we made it clear NOT to holdback the mains for the 1 person (out of 7) that was having sourbread starter. After 30min that alone arrived and again we reiterated don't hold back the mains. 30 min later we asked where the mains were to be told they were waiting for the starter to be finished!!! Really? My wife thought the beef roast was the worst she'd ever had all chewy and full of fat. The carrots were so over cooked they just turned to mush when u put a fork in. The Apple and Rhubard dessert contained NO Rhubarb and didn't even taste like it had been anywhere near a stick of Rhubarb. Overall pretty poor and not the 1st bad experience here. If you can't cope with the number don't take so many bookings. You seem more interested in profit than providing good...

We held a wedding reception at the Dukes Head and we, as well as other guests, also stayed there and I cannot recommend it highly enough. For the event, they were so helpful and accomodating, working with us to make sure everything was perfect. The food was amazing, the service efficient, friendly and all the staff were attentive; nothing was too much trouble. The hotel rooms are lovely and very comfortable, again with great care for the little details that matter, including complementary homemade cookies. The breakfasts were also very impressive and plentiful. In summary, whether it's a meal, a good hotel or a venue for an event, the Dukes Head most definitely delivers in all areas and we would heartily recommend, and will go back to eat and stay when in the area. Also, the Dukes Head is dog friendly. We sadly lost our dog a few weeks before our event, but he would have been welcomed both in the hotel and at the reception. Many many thanks to all team! We had a...
