Came here for brunch with some friends on a Saturday at 12noon and glad we had made a reservation prior as it was absolutely packed! Definitely book before coming to avoid queuing here because it's very popular with limited tables and seats.
We went with the crispy fried eggs (came with sourdough), mushroom congee and chicken schnitzel. Gotta be home the food was really average and not outstanding at all. Fried eggs were just fried eggs with labneh which was an interesting combo but didn't taste particularly exceptional, although the sourdough was toasted so added more crispiness to the texture. We got all really excited when we saw the mushroom congee thinking it's really like the dish we have in Hong Kong but honestly it was so disappointing as it was literally just risotto with loads of sesame oil. Please don't call it congee when you have no idea how to actually make it, and don't add sesame oil and call it congee - it's simply wrong! We don't eat congee with sesame oil in Asia, it's unauthentic. Chicken schnitzel tasted more like katsu, and the meat was not thin and flat enough. It's also quite bland that didn't taste like much. Overall, I just wasn't a fan of the food.
Service was great on the other hand, friendly staff all around. Vibes were chill and I like the minimalist interior design with a wooden theme. It was really noisy and loud in the beginning when we first sat down as it was super crowded but as time went by the restaurant became almost absolutely empty by 2pm. So perhaps then is the best...
Read moreUnbelievably poor experiences. The first time (a couple of months ago or so) the food was nice enough, however the owner/manager ruined the experience. He was extremely loud, shouting across the restaurant, giving orders to his staff (yes, orders!) and facetiming someone very loudly showing the place. He was also shouting about having taken mushrooms and being high, and this was before he started dancing all over the restaurant with his friends…. And the music playing was very loud pop (Lady gaga, Dua Lipa etc) which definitely didn’t fit the style of the restaurant. A couple of weeks ago we decided to give Kuro another chance as we enjoyed the food the first time we went there. Firstly we saw the chef outside smoking in his chefs white (!!!), quite off-putting. Despite that, everything was going ok until we saw a server bringing a prawn dish to another table. The dish had like a crispy seaweed thing on top, which fell on floor. The owner/manager (yes, unfortunately he was there again, always super loud and unaware of the vibe) picked it up from the floor and put it back on the plate!!!! We obviously just paid and left. Unbelievable really. And then yesterday Kuro was mentioned in a Topjaw video, Kuro copied MARU COFFEE in LA in absolutely everything - Google it, you’ll be shocked!! Seeing the responses they’re giving I’m sure they’ll answer saying that I’m lying or they will judge my “review pattern” - so...
Read moreI was there for a friends birthday. We left most of the food we ordered, partly due to the taste, partly due to quality of meat swimming in oil. After spending approx. £275 for two of us, at least the champagne and wine was pleasant. I did complain at the time, and I did complain after. I was offered a glass of wine, and to be rest assured that the feedback will be passed on to the chef. Needless to say I won’t be going back.
In reply to the owner: Please copy and paste my initial complaint and let everyone see if it was blackmail, or in fact it was to give an opportunity to a new small business to receive private feedback with hope to find a resolution. After you offered me a glass of wine, I was appalled so said I would review. I suggest you consider your words more carefully, and understand the meaning of the word defamation. The only thing that is contemptible and cheap is your response.
I pointed out the Cote De Boeuf was swimming in oil (I do not believe it was goats butter), it was full of fat and awful. To which the waiter apologised and said he would feed this back to the chef.
The waiter asked if everything was okay due to the amount of food left over. He then scraped the food in to a bin that was under the counter. Please get your facts in order, learn how to take constructive criticism and learn some customer service.
I hope everyone can see what to expect by going to...
