I booked this restaurant for my birthday and was a little bit wary about some of the comments which mentioned bad service.
Once we arrived I thought ‘weird reviews this place is amazing with very attentive servers’. The views are stunning, the vibes were good, the music was chilled and not too loud. Then it started to go wrong.
The server introduced himself and was lovely, but after 30 mins after we ordered our drinks, we kept asking if they were coming and were told ‘1, 2 or 3 mins’. He explained that because I had some allergies it took a lot longer to process which I thought was weird but fair enough. We continued to wait for another 10 mins. They arrived and in fairness were very good - we had a mix of tasty margaritas and espresso martinis.
When we ordered I mentioned I had allergies to nuts, sesame and shellfish. It’s a nut free restaurant (love!) and they explained they could accommodate me. I asked if they could do sushi with no sesame and they said of course. He checked with the kitchen multiple times and I was pleasantly surprised that they could serve me - typically I’m told no so I wouldn’t have minded if they couldn’t accommodate me. After about an hour they came with sushi covered in sesame seeds. This was a new waiter in a blue jacket. I mentioned I asked for it with no sesame and he very rudely barked ‘we can’t do that here, do you still want to eat it?’. I was quite taken aback by this and said ‘no as it would kill me’. What I found frustrating is I am very used to being told no and choosing from a smaller selection which is fine but being told I can be accommodated and being served food covered in allergens was completely unprofessional. I then got asked if I wanted to order something else which I did. I was told it had allergens which was fine and ordered something else. (I mention this for a reason…). I saw the lady had an allergy matrix and asked if I could look at it - this is common in pretty much every restaurant I go to. The lady said it would look unprofessional to let me see it. I gave her feedback that this is common practice but she wouldn’t show it to me. I thought this was strange and said some restaurants put it in a folder to make it look more professional… she didn’t appreciate my feedback.
Some sushi had arrived for the other girls but we thought we’d wait for everything to arrive and were told it would be ‘1, 2, or 3 mins’. After 90mins since ordering we asked what was happening and whether the food was still coming - again we were told it’s on its way. The third time we asked, we were told it’s not coming because the sushi is always served first. Again - my feedback is just be honest - we were stupidly waiting for food that wasn’t on its way.
And then the tacos that they told me I couldn’t eat came. I laughed at this point and in fairness they said ‘you can still eat them for free’. I reminded the lady that it would kill me but my friend could eat them.
We thought we’d make the evening lighter by ordering a bottle of wine. Firstly the waiter kept telling us to speak to a sommelier but we were struggling to flag one down - I’m not sure why the waiter didn’t just ask someone to come over. We ordered and waited about 30 mins. Finally our saviour Kevin served us. He apologised for the delay and I did say to him ‘that’s the first apology we’ve had all night and it’s honestly all we wanted’. He kept topping us up and really did change the night for us. We really aren’t girls to complain usually but this night was really up there with the worst service ever.
The food was nice - the girls had maki rolls and a salad. I had tacos which were tasty. It’s expensive for what you get but you are paying for the aesthetics and views which I think is expected in London.
We did get an additional bottle of wine and free desserts on the house - we did appreciate this, although would absolutely not recommend desserts to anyone. Another personal highlight was the lady saying ‘the desserts were allergy free, opening the menus, and seeing ‘toasted sesame mochi’ and...
Read moreWent here over the weekend as I had heard good reviews about it and having looked at the menu there was a lot of vegetarian options.
When we arrived we were sat on the ground floor which was nice, interior is lovely even if it is crammed, which it was. Hardly any space between the tables but I can appreciate that as a small restaurant they probably what to utilise as much space as they can. Also very cold because of the door constantly being opened and closed so wasn't a great place to be sat. We did ask to move but they didn't have anything.
We ordered some drinks and starters which came with no issues. We ordered mains with a different waiter and whilst placing the order for the table he asked me a few times if I was sure I wanted to order that much food, I was a little taken back by these comments because I had specifically asked how many pieces/how big the portion was before ordering and he could see there was 4 of us so if one portion is 2 pieces it would make sense that I would order 2 portions. Anyways we ordered more drinks whilst we waited for our mains, when they finally came (the restaurant was busy) they forgot one of the portions so they said they'd get the chef to make it and send it out in a few minutes. 15 mins later the manager comes over and says he's about to go check on that dish and returns from the kitchen and walks straight past us without giving me an update. Another 15 mins pass by, at which point we have all finished our meal. I asked for the manager to come over and again he apologised and said he'd go check on the order and said it'll be another few minutes. The dish that was missing wasn't something that would have taken over 30 mins to make because when we initially ordered all our food came within 10 mins. The restaurant was also a lot more quieter by this point so I couldn't understand what the hold up was unless they had forgotten again. Almost 40 mins later after everyone had eaten the dish came through and was slightly over burnt. To say I wasn't impressed is an understatement. As important as the food is to me, the service is way more important.
Personally I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as once I had put the review up on Instagram I had a lot of feedback from other people who had similar experiences and said service was awful despite having a number of waiters.

Read moreI have been wanting to pop into Los Mochis for awhile as the idea of Japanese and Mexican fusion is really appealing.
So when the opportunity to catch with an old friend I'd not seen in 40 years this was the perfect opportunity to do so.
The service was excellent, the food great and the atmosphere to match.
If you are into your Tequila and Mezcals then this is a spot to visit they have a very good selection with some real gems in the list.
After my initial visit I decided that this would be a good place for a birthday meal with friends. And that the tasting menu would be something worth trying. I'm afraid to say this is where I felt slightly ripped off, I've never been charged for "cocktail prep" when ordering a margarita ever, I started the evening by ordering 2 margaritas using Fortaleza blanco tequila (a favourite of mine) and did not expect that every other straight up margarita after that would be made with Fortaleza and therefore charged quite a bit more for each one compared to the advertised price for said margarita on the menu.
And what on earth is "cocktail prep"?! It is a margarita not some complicated cocktail by any means.
If you are going to do that YOU have to let the customer know. As I was with friends I really did not want to make a thing about this at the time. My advice would be to be very very specific with the staff about what you are ordering and double check. I'm just glad I did not ask them to make the 1st ones with the Fortaleza 2022 Winter blend!
We also had 5 tasting menus, 3 non vegan and 2 vegan and although the food was amazing and I appreciate the skill, attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients, but expecting 3 people to share 2 puddings between us was absolutely ridiculous. Yes when I had a word about it a 3rd was brought out. How they honestly expected 3 people to be ok with that is not what I would expect from such an establishment. Thankfully the 2 vegans were a couple and happy to share their single pudding between them.
Look this is a great place, the waitering staff were great and they cannot be faulted, I did feel the front of house looked down their noses at us which was somewhat rude.
I cannot fault the food and the service staff they did an excellent job. I am not changing my rating of the restaurant but I will sadly not...
