Suzi Tros – A Taste of Greece with Heart 🇬🇷❤️ For those who love quick reads, here’s what we ordered: - Tzatziki with a pinch of garlic - Spicy feta with green peppers & crushed chilies - Greek salad with cherry tomatoes & olive oil rusks - Grilled calamari, island savoro - Chicken thigh souvlaki with paprika dip & mustard sauce - Grandmama’s meatballs and crisps Now let me tell you — this place has something truly special. The moment we stepped inside Suzi Tros, it felt like being welcomed into someone’s home in Greece. The space is warm and cozy, softly lit, filled with chatter and laughter. The team were genuinely kind — the kind of people who make you feel like a regular on your very first visit. We started with the Tzatziki, smooth and fresh, just the right touch of garlic — perfectly balanced. Then came the Spicy Feta — bold, creamy, and slightly fiery, paired with the soft grilled bread that was crisp at the edges. Absolutely addictive. The Greek Salad tasted like summer — bright, juicy, and honest, just as it should be. Then came the star of the night — the Grilled Calamari. I’ve truly never had calamari this soft and tender before. It was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and felt like a dish made with care. The Chicken Thigh Souvlaki was another favorite — juicy, smoky, and full of life. Each bite with the paprika dip and mustard sauce was pure comfort. And to finish, Grandmama’s Meatballs and Crisps — what a beautiful way to end the meal. You could taste the love in it; that home-cooked warmth you only get from a family recipe passed down with care. Suzi Tros isn’t just about food — it’s about heart, warmth, and the feeling of Greece, right here in London. Every dish feels personal, every detail thoughtful. I left with a full heart (and a very happy stomach). 🌿✨

Suzi Tros is an outstanding little restaurant just close to Notting Hill tube station. Spiros and his team were very understanding when our party of 4 were 20 mins late to our booking due to some traffic delays. The atmosphere in the little restaurant is relaxed and cosy. It was fully booked with what appeared to be locals to the area. It’s always a good sign when the locals dine there on a Saturday night. The food was sensational. We had a variety to share between the 4 of us including the flatbread (incredible), tzatziki, grilled octopus, lamb cutlets, olives, feta salad, meat balls and the smoked aubergine. All absolutely amazing. The service was prompt and attentive. It did not seem rushed or slow… just perfect. This is a hidden little gem next to the larger sister restaurant, Mazi… and what a brilliant find it was. I’m back to Australia this coming week… but will returning to Suzi Tros when I return. Highly Recommend. Thank you Spiros and team!

Overall good/okay experience at Suzi Tros! However having previously been to Mazi (which I absolutely love) I expected more from the food. I highly recommend the Orzo pasta dish (amazing) and the lemon cream dessert (great presentation and taste). Unfortunately, the cod smelled and tasted excessively fishy in our opinion and the crispy calamari felt a bit chewy. Atmosphere-wise, the space could really benefit from improving their ventilation system. We were sitting at the counter facing the kitchen and at times we felt very nauseous from the cooking oil fumes. This was quite unpleasant and could’ve easily ruined our experience if we had stayed longer. Hopefully ventilation improves, as this is not only unpleasant but also unhealthy for the chefs and the customers sitting there. Finally, we were happy with the service and we loved the wine selection.

Good food, but very rushed

The food was very good (4 star), but the dining experience was not great (1 star), mainly because it was very rushed. Both aspects will be discussed below.

The tuna carpaccio was delicious, and slightly fruity in flavour. The Greek salad was very fresh, with the perfect balance of oil and feta. The side order of of bread was okay, but a bit burnt.

The grilled calamari was simply presented, but excellent. The octopus was warm and tender.

The lamb tacos were full of flavour, and the meatballs were well-balanced with the tzatziki.

For dessert we had profiteroles, which was a generous portion (5) for two and both fresh and delicious.

Overall, though, the food was a bit overpriced, and while it is reasonable to pay appropriately for good food, being charged £7 for a side dip of tzatziki (off the menu, suggested as an accompaniment for the £3 plate of bread by our waiter) felt a bit much.

That covers the food, now for the dining experience.

Before even sitting down properly we were asked to order drinks.

The cocktail selection was limited to about six options, which is fine if standard ones could also be made, but there seemed to be an unwillingness to do so; in fact, when asked if one of the cocktails could be made alcohol free via a simple substitution, we were informed this would not be possible and were offered a glass of lemonade instead.

The restaurant encourages ordering multiple dishes and then sharing them, which is fine if the tables are large enough to handle multiple dishes. Unfortunately, it felt like playing Tetris to try and squeeze a couple of dishes and our drinks onto the tiny table.

(The restaurant space is small with tables squeezed together.)

Despite wanting to order a couple of dishes to start and then a few more later for the main, the waiter pushed us to order everything at once. This was a mistake. While the 'starter' dishes did arrive first, the other dishes soon followed before we had finished these, despite the table already being overloaded. Almost as soon as a dish was removed, it was replaced by another.

Between sitting down and finishing 5 dishes, only 45 minutes had elapsed. A note to the manager - there is probably a limit to how fast one can eat before it becomes unpleasant.

After that things did calm down, maybe because the kitchen was busy, and there was a brief respite before the last dish, and a similar respite before we were offered dessert.

Finally, after eating our dessert, we were bluntly asked if we 'wanted the bill'; I cannot recall being asked this directly in a decent restaurant before. We paid about £70 per person, and were out of there awithin 75 min of sitting down.

It is understandable that restaurants want to maximise the number of tables they turn over a night, and while we have been to other restaurants in London which have 2-hour slots, never has it felt so rushed, and the restaurants always seemed to want us to enjoy our meal.

If you want a quick bite, then this is the place, but if you would like a good dining experience, perhaps for a special occasion, then...

First off: I'm not an obsessive reviewer; I only ever feel compelled to write a review when I am either truly impressed, or the opposite. Sadly, this time it was the latter. After a month in Greece, I was really keen to try Suzi Tros, partly because of the story behind the name, but mostly because I absolutely love Greek food and hospitality. My friend and I both found that Suzi Tros was anti-Greek in its approach. The waiters were extremely pushy and slow at the same time. They seemed to be far more preoccupied with the larger tables, ignoring us when we wanted their attention and only coming over when when one of our orders was ready. Our waiter tried very hard to upsell us on the wine and then the food, trying to get us to order an unnecessary fifth dish (for a table of two!) and saying 'it's better if you order everything at the same time'. They also took about 15-20 minutes to bring us our bill after we'd asked for it. And you can't order tsipouro with meze! The only tsipuro costs a stupid amount, and has to be bought by the bottle not by the shot as you would in Greece. From my experienc, this simply isn't how things are done in real Greek establishemnts. Lastly but very importantly: the acoustics are truly horrendous; my friend and I could not hear each other at all, and were in actual pain from all the noise. This place really needs to invest in sound insulation. The food was fine — a bit of a posh West London take on traditional Greek cuisine. In fact, the food was the only good thing about the place — but we all know it's only a small part of a resturant experience.

To sum up this less than favourable review, which I really wish I didn't have to write: I will not go back to Suzi Tros, and would actively advise others not to go — sorry, but this place gives the completely wrong impression of the Greek...
